HS2 is just about capacity, I commute every day and space is at a premium.

A cheaper solution would have been to extend stations, Bhm, Int, Cov, Rug, MK, Watford and commissioned longer trains but the brains employed over complicated it and looked for the difficult solution, not the practical one.
Sometimes the right thing to do is the easy thing.......

A few years ago I heard one opinion that said convert the railways to roads. I think this must be it..

Few people are aware of this but transport minister Ernest Marples who sanctioned the biggest cuts in British railway history was also a partner in one of the companies which was awarded the contract to build many of the then new motorways!
