Robins has to stay. For 2 years we have had no manager just a clueless fool who has created most of the mess. In addition he signed complete dross in the summer. All his signings are a waste of time with the possible exception of Fleck.

He has a massive task. The squad is sub standard for this league. Mid table would be a massive achievement.

He was part of the total mess that our owners have created of their punt in football, and given that this is such a shit squad assembled by AT ,we were on midtable form .Now we have the svengali manager you craved he's going to struggle to achieve mid table mediocrity ,come on ,thats the very thing our beloved board said there were no longer willing to tolerate.

How many of the 9 players signed this summer are capable of performing in this league? I would say one. The rest are useless as are a lot of the other players he has inherited.

The squad is abject. Robins cannot be judged until he has had chance to remove them.

5 million rated Barton
reason Motherwell were in Champions League Jennings
etc etc

our squad should not be in the drop zone in league one

So we should sign a player from Malta if they are in the Champions League? Isaac osbourne is rated in Scotland - it means nothing.

The thought of Barton and 5 million is ridiculous beyond belief. Know he is not even worth that in Zimbabwian Dollars.

Manager who signed over half of the first 16 this summer 3 draws - sacked - uncertainty - 4 defeats - New manager, brings in 4 new signings and a coach, assistant manager sacked, player put on transfer list - more transition - 2 defeats ( one in first game), 2 wins, 2 draws - people now discussing, if he is the rightman. This should be in a circle.

At some point will common sense prevail!

I've saying all along mid table is the best we can hope for this season. We are already way behind the pack, unless we put some sort of super run. Can anyone really see that? This is why I keep going on about the JPT, this could give us the platform for next season. But we need yet another clear out of dead wood in the summer. Watching the premiership and even the championship I release what a poor set of player we have now and how far we have fallen.

Who on here has questioned the managers' appointment?

'stronger on paper' is meaningless, although it could have been said at the beginning of the season.
Now though, we are clearly not stronger than the majority of clubs in our league, and, dare I say it, we wouldn't be challenging in league two either.

Look it's one defeat so let's not panic yet, itnwill take time to fully assess the teams capability and commitment to the cause. The issue with loan players is that when they return to their clubs it's like having a new team all over again which means more time to gel which is never good. I would question the current crop of perm signings so I think we need to work on that further but again that will co e down to resources. I don't think we will drop to league 2 but it will be another uneventful season like we used to have in the championship.

Agreed Covstu, clearly we have next to no chance of promotion this year - obviously the squad just isn't good enough - please please no more talk about how good we are on paper and why we should be winning every game - reality is starring us in the face - before yesterday I was still optimistic - I thought we had a fair chance but after seeing that performance .. well what can I say.. very poor nothing there I can take away as a positive - MR really has his work cut out now.

I'm confident only that we will avoid relegation ... what I now fear is the effect a lacklustre season in this league and prospect of a second next year here also will have on the mind-set of our beloved owners - I am sure behind the scenes Fisher & Waggot will have given all kinds of positives to the owners promotion was a near certainty - we have committed now to another bunch of sub-standard players and forecast to make ongoing losses - we all better pray they get the ACL shares now cos if they don't I can't see what the point in them carrying on is

Easily,.......

Given our 8 game handicap that would require top 6 form from now on.

Problem by saying easy is that it suggests that is the benchmark to judge managerial success.

This squad is the poorest I have seen. If most were transfer listed there would be few takers for the majority. Robins to achieve top 10 would prove himself to be an excellent manager. I would accep 14th as a success now.

Personally I would argue it was a 5 match handicap. Drawing your first three, despite not setting the world on fire are not the worst results in the world.

However losing the next five clearly is and with our squad was completely unacceptable.

Those 5 defeats have made it hard to get in the top six.

However since those 5 defeats we have won 2 drew 2 and lost 1.

One of the draws was against Swindon away. Where they admitted they were lucky to get a draw. The defeat is against notts county who also admitted they were lucky to get a win.

They and the draws with Sheff Utd and MK Dons will arguably be our toughest games this season.

If for the next 32 games we follow a 5 match pattern of 2 wins, 2 draws one defeat. We only need a slight variation to the pattern one week where one of the draws and defeats are replaced with 2 wins.
Ie a 5 game run of 4 wins and 1 draw.

I believe with the squad in this division that is a very realistic proposition.

I watched Tranmere and they were absolutely shocking. Anyone can put such a run together.

People, like they did with the draw against bury, are making far too much out of a defeat to Notts County.

In which like it or not we did dominate the stats.

If Goldie had put away that chance early doors we would be having a very different conversation.

Also people critising robins for saying we were unlucky.

Well it is true just like when were played poor and won he admitted that.

This is an interesting observation as you always quote the opposition when it suits. Two of these games were against teams likely to be in the relegation mix. Also its relegation form.

.

Is it or is it entirely consistent with the first 3 results? 4 of the games were away. We have one of the poorest away records in England. The home game was against a team performing better than Sheffield or Swindon who you seem happy to take a draw from. Tranmere had a 100% record when we played them.

Why? Which of our players are strong at this level? Name some and justify it.

I watched Tranmere and they were absolutely shocking. Anyone can put such a run together.

They have the strongest record in the football league. This is a stupid remark.

You didn't go to Tranmere did you. They won't stay in the top two. They were truly awful.

Well they are out of the top two.

Like I say anyone can put a run together in this league. It is all about confidence
