That maybe the case. However unless Robins is massively over achieving with the squad. They are not as bad as some are making out.

All you do is list the players names. I ask again what have any of them done in the last 4 seasons to suggest they are any good at all? Which of the summer signings would you keep and why?

On the basis of experience and performance in this League

Preston, Tranmere, Sheffield, MK Dons, Sheffield, Notts County, Doncaster to name but a few.

Base it on the actual squads themselves. Not the performances this season. Personally I think they have been affected by off field matters.

You were a big proclaimer at the beginning of this season that this squad is more than good enough to go up.

I recall you even saying that this squad will go up despite the ineptitude of AT and you would still like him sacked once they go up as any manager can get this squad up.

Now AT has gone we have a decent manager in. That you agree is a decent manager. Suddenly we have the worst squad there could be and we would be lucky to get in the top half.

Because I have seen them actually play Don. I had at least hoped that Thorn and co would be capable of signing appropriate players. Until you see them play they are just names - now we know what they are like and pretty much all of them are dreadful. Which of them would you keep? They are all very poor and Fleck is the only one who looks remotely capable.

The one reservation by the way I always had was lack of goals and that is something we never have resolved.

Now we even concede more than we did last season as well.

Fleck has a great touch.
Personally I like Barton aswell.
I can't believe that Kevin Kilbane won't eventually had a influencial spell in games.
Baker is showing how he can shine at this level.
As is Wood.
Murphy IMO is proving he is good enough at this level.
Cody if he gets a run I feel will score goals. Based on his positioning.
Cameron will be fine.

I am surprised Jordan is going through a bad spell.

Mcgoldrick looks quality and may stay who knows.

Bailey looks good.

I hope Hussey gets another chance as if his confidence is up he will surprise people like Baker has.

Thomas has not had a chance yet.

I am still a bit undecided on moussa and Reckford

So at least we agree 6 of Thorns signings were rubbish - we only disagree on Barton and Kilbane - Thanks.

It was more about getting depth in a squad for me.
I feel we lacked the depth last season losing players who were not replaced leading to relegation.

Depth and quality.

Fleck, Barton, Kilbane, Jennings, Balls potential.

It was hard to say with the two French boys.

But yes the depth of the squad especially keeping wood. Gave me the confidence to say this squad should be top six.

The 5 defeats has made that a lot lot harder. However I still have hopes.

I do not think we will have 5 defeats like that again and that tells me it is not the players but off field stuff which is now sorted.

Perhaps you're realising that in this division teams are often greater than the sum of their parts. We have players who should not be sat in the bottom 4 of League 1, but that is what their performances as a group have merited to date.

I am basing it on the squads - I've looked at them - far more experience at this level and far more goal power.

Fleck has a great touch. - Eastwood has a great touch. Apart from set pieces he is usually on the periphery games. What is his position? Only ever looks good on the left but can't go past a player.
Personally I like Barton aswell. - Barton is garbage, 2nd worst signing after brown
I can't believe that Kevin Kilbane won't eventually had a influencial spell in games. - Kilbane is proving what a lot of us said, too old and won't play half the games.
Baker is showing how he can shine at this level. - is he? 1 good game against Birmingham in the cup...he looks garbage
As is Wood.- yes wood has scored 2 goals but he has been shaky defensively all season and Ben at fault for numerous goals
Murphy IMO is proving he is good enough at this level. - yes agree
Cody if he gets a run I feel will score goals. Based on his positioning. - seems to continuously have injury/fitness issues. Very wasteful with his chances
Cameron will be fine. - still has faults

I am surprised Jordan is going through a bad spell. - me too I rate Jordan

Mcgoldrick looks quality and may stay who knows. - he won't stay.

Bailey looks good. - he won't stay

I hope Hussey gets another chance as if his confidence is up he will surprise people like Baker has. - Baker hasn't surprised anyone, unless running around impresses you

Thomas has not had a chance yet. - and?

I am still a bit undecided on moussa and Reckford

Personally I would argue it was a 5 match handicap. Drawing your first three, despite not setting the world on fire are not the worst results in the world.

QUOTE]

This is an interesting observation as you always quote the opposition when it suits. Two of these games were against teams likely to be in the relegation mix. Also its relegation form.

Is it or is it entirely consistent with the first 3 results? 4 of the games were away. We have one of the poorest away records in England. The home game was against a team performing better than Sheffield or Swindon who you seem happy to take a draw from. Tranmere had a 100% record when we played them.

Our wins are against teams who were out of form.

Why? Which of our players are strong at this level? Name some and justify it.

I watched Tranmere and they were absolutely shocking. Anyone can put such a run together.

They have the strongest record in the football league. This is a stupid remark.

Yep as I thought out of the top two.

Anyone can put a run together in this league. It's just about confidence

Yes they had a slight problem - they didn't play last night - they play Hartleppol today and will go back top if they win.

Edjenguele - Very good league 1 player and works well with Woody. Strong and mobile.
Jennings - Solid. I think best summed up as "Deegen with a brain". Good signing.
Kilbane - Disappointing. Expected more from him however he has put in 3 assists and 1 goal in his limited playing time.
Fleck - Fades in and out of games but has undoubted quality and has put in a real shift defensively as well up to now.
Barton - Hasn't grabbed his opportunities too well but shown glimpses of what he can do. First half against Bury, he ran the show and scored a peach. Jury still out on him.
Elliot - Strange one this. When he signed, I labelled him as "ROD II" but in the first three games I thought he did brilliantly, worked hard, used the ball well, and took his goal well. Then he disappeared! Still think he's got a lot to offer. Definitely a good squad player if nothing more.
Malaga - Only seen him twice so I cant comment but the fact he's playing at nuneaton tells its own story.

Overall I am happy with the signings considering most were picked up on a free. Couldnt have done much more. If Robins had made the same signings then excuses would be made for thier under-performance.
