I think someone already said similar, but one thing that will make a difference is if all the protesters, boycotters, conscientious objectors etc actually get their arses there to support them. I don’t fancy the idea of Sunderland and Portsmouth turning it into a home game for them.

Would make a huge difference having 15k it us there every week. A (relatively) massive crowd would really send a message to the players as well. How?

Heart says 2nd, head says 5th and out in the playoffs. I really hope heart is right because I feel this could be a sliding doors moment for us. Get up this year and we'll be back at the Ricoh with a fairer deal and potential interest from new owners. Fail to go up and the budget is cut, players and manager leave and we struggle against relegation again.

Ah yeah, this ‘CCFC’ guy is the armchair football genius that was telling all & sundry that McFazdean is nothing but a liability: “He's a dreadful player. I'd bin him off in January and sign another centre back”, and if memory serves he’s another of the “Godden is shite” brigade as well.

Last season we picked up 65 points at an average of 1.41 per game. So far this year we're picking up 1.78 per game.

To finish 2nd last year you would have needed 89 points (Barnsley got 91 but still would have gone up with two fewer), that works out at 1.93ppg. If we take it that this will be the same this year (although I expect it will be lower) then the total points needed over a 44 game season would be 85.

If we were to revert back to last season's average from here then we'd finish with 72 points which is way short and would even have resulted in us missing out on playoffs. Maintain the form that we've had over the course of this season and we're looking at 78 which is bringing us much closer to the required total while still falling short.

However, if you take this date last year and calculate the games played afterwards we start to average 1.53ppg an improvement of 0.12 over the season average and a much bigger upturn of 0.18 of the 1.35ppg from the season so far. During that period we played 6 of the top 7 away from home.

This season if we can maintain the same upturn as last in what is widely regarded as a weaker division and with our more difficult games at home then we will finish the season with 1.96ppg or 86 points.

Lads, it's on.

It's way too early to call it. Doing so is just tempting fate and toby fare I'm fuckin fuming that some people are saying we'll win the league.

I will attempt to restore the balance.

My prediction is that we will bottle it and finish 12th.

Who says this is a weaker division ? Or is it because we are challenging ?

Probably means weaker in the sense that there isn’t really a breakaway and as a result the points totals are lower.

Top of the pile, got to be confident this is our season, also think the players we have, have the confidence and feeling that they can do it, they remind me of the 87 team with the way they fight and stick together as a team

Weaker, stronger - difficult to say. Personally I think it is stronger due to the larger number of decent (but not outstanding) teams in the top half. Any of the top 6 could conceivably be champions, and any of them could conceivably miss out on playoffs. Any team from 11th upwards (Burton) will think they still have a realistic chance of playoffs if they put a run together. That's what makes it unusual this season.

I have to agree. I optimistically put money us beginning of season. My conviction has been growing, said 2nd place all along. Stick with that.

81/82 points will/should get us in autos this season.

Play offs will be as high as 74 for 6th place.

Reckon alot of good teams will finish on 70-73 points this season and mis out.

We are definitely good enough for top 2 - if we believe and be brave enough. The only times I have seen us outplayed are Rotherham away (more physically bullied and stopped than outplayed by technique) and Oxford away - despite most people saying that was 2 points thrown away in the last min, it would have been a real steal if we had won that game. MK Dons away is a better example of 2 points lost, they were woeful and we didn't do enough.

The thing that works in our favour is, so far, we are good..very good. Yet, I feel we are STILL gelling as a team and learning to play with each other (not surprising after 9 or so new signings). Only recently are we seeing the likes of Dabo, Rose, McFazdean and Walsh stamping their authority on games and playing to their full potential...or are they? Can they get EVEN better?

We still haven't fully integrated Biamou into the side and back from his injury, Allen has only been partially integrated, the same for Pask - who could add another dimension to an attacking defence, apparently we have got some pace from this Giles, and we may even get some crucial contributions from Jodi Jones before the season is over...if we continue on an upward trajectory, we can hit our peak at the perfect time, ready for the run in and kick on from mostly outplaying teams, to completely overwhelming them and storming to automatic promotion - this has to be the aim and the mindset now, continuous improvement resulting in a confident and brave finish. More direct attacking talent from the likes of Allen, I think, will be what we are missing so far. It's there for the taking, let's make it ours! PUSB!

Our strikers might not be as prolific as we want but our midfielders have carried us this season. Don't lose against the top 6 teams at home coming up and we will be in the automatic spots.
