It didn't really happen as most of us think it did. It was a small wrestle off the ball, Haaland weren't bothered and Yirenki got carried away. Haaland could have picked him up and power slammed him if he wanted to.

It’s a fucking joke, if he carries on playing grimes he can get sacked when we carry on not winning games, it will be his own fault. Love grimes for what he did for us last season but he’s not good enough to start in the premier league

I don't think that's the issue. Im still certain Yirenkyi, Tchaouna, Amenda & Cherif will be good players. Problem is too many of them aren't ready and you can't be writing off 4 or 5 games at the start of the season. Saying that we definitely needed another central midfielder.

Fair point. I've no idea why Yirenkyi didn't start and Tchaouna should have been on before BTA. I was thinking more Cherif and Gboho.

Yeah that's my view on it. Listening to the That Cov Pod I really don't see how he is "miles better in possession" than Grimes, we certainly haven't seen it. I think the transfer fee and "Real Madrid looking at him" is skewing peoples perception of him. He looks like a younger version of Onyeka. Energetic, athletic and a bit loose in possession but occasionally can do something brilliant. The way people talk about him as if we have signed a young Pirlo.

I think he is a playmaker but a very inexperienced one who will make rash decisions with the aim of controlling the tempo of the game. Thats ultimately why I think he’s loose in possession - almost the polar opposite of Onyeka’s problem.

Fair enough, I've not seen anything in the few games he's played so far or his highlights reel to suggest that. And from the inside track from his coach in Denmark, they very much badge him as a ball winner not a play maker.

You could see he was good on the ball, tidy in possession, just not physically ready for first team football. I see Yirenkyi as more than ready physically for first team football but loose in possession and tactically naive.

And yet since hes joined weve seen him drive forward and get an assist for Tchaouna from playmaking, and a fabulous inventive flick vs Plymouth for Awoniyi.
