If it were a VAR decision it’s given I think (if Torp hasn’t knocked it in) Ref without VAR - not so sure to be fair.
Also, ball over the line without technology? Ref / Lino might not give it.

Would’ve been a pen all day long-great advantage by the Ref to wait and see the result with the ball ending up in the net.

Wright was either injured or not fully recovered from his injury for most of last season. Now we're getting the benefit of a fully fit Wright and an improvement of all the players around him. Our opponents try to mark him out of the game but it gives the rest of the players extra space.

My nonsense views FWIW
Rushworth 8 - 3 Sukudos and the Times Crossword in 90 min, fair play. Basically an assist for the 3rd from the kind of bouncing ball that would've ended up in our net for parts of last season.
MVE 8 - loved his second half off the ball runs to leave Saka free when the game was basically done
Kitch & Thomas 8.5- have to mark them as a pair as they played as a proper CB partnership, Hilarious to see Dykes trying it on and them both just owning him from then on. .5 added for the assist, more please.
Dasilva 9 - Not sure what more you'd want from a left back giving the opposition a foot head start. Great going both ways, possibly his best game for the club?
Grimes 8 - once they went down to 10 it was his game. This lad is gonna end up in our hall of fame.
Torp 8.5 - Moment of the game for me was when he muscled their player off the ball after a stray forward pass. Last year that ends up as a chance for the opposition. Also bust a gut to snatch the 3rd when everyone in the ground knew the game was done.
Eccles 9 - gets an extra point to annoy the bloke behind me who spent injury time when 3-0 up v the blues moaning about how Eccles and Allen (after 5 years at a top end Champ team) aren't championship standard. Didn't miss Rudi which is high praise indeed. Made the 2nd by doing the Rudi/ EMC back stick late arrive. All whilst being weighed down by some freaky bonus bone in his leg. I trust Leicesterfox will be writing to the FA about the attempt to cut him in two for their CB's 1st yellow- we simply can't have players trying to hurt each other in this contact sport...
Saka 8 - got stuck in, and took the piss when 2 nil up in front of the remaining dregs of their support.
Wright 8 - took one off Torp's toe, but also caused the sending off through his run and near miss 5 min before which spooked their centre half. Tracked back like a (US) Trooper too.
BTA 8.5 - Also in 'one of his best games' territory. Poachers' finish, tireless as always and more than a few nice touches.

Allen 7 - tempted to up his grade as per Eccles, but it's Jamie Allen, it's 7 out of 10.
Simms 8 - 2 nil up against 10 men who have surrendered, someone has clearly lit a fire under his arse and he delivered. Proper centre forward play for the 3rd, and a few other nice moments. The performance of a lad who wants to fight for his place.
KKH. Brau, Andrews 6 - not a lot of time but all prepared to get involved and try a flick or two even if they didn't come off, no one looking like a competition winner.

Dykes - agent has played a blinder to get him a move to those on presumably crazy wages, and that was probably the best blindside flanker performance at the CBS since the insects last played here. Drop goal 2nd half to cap it off.

Osayi-Samuel - seen 'em missed tbf.
Stanfield - Absolutely worth 10m of anyone's money, can't believe we wasted 4m on Rudoni when we could have been saving up to bid for him.
Their fans - was not singing part of their boycott? And did the last bus back to Brum leave at 60 min?

Tricky one that. Forget this “last man”nonsense which is a myth and a favourite of the all so intelligent pundits. The correct law is “Denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity” but the defender didn’t do that as Ellis got a shot on target or a half shot if you like
Would’ve been interesting to have seen the outcome if the ball hadn’t gone in.
Didn't do enough off the ball for me; was carelessly offside when played in with acres of space by Grimes; and then missed a glorious chance. Don't think he won one header.

Nah, never a pen. The threshold for a pen is higher than in other areas of the pitch. He'd have had to pull him back a lot more than he did so that it effected Simms momentum for it to be given. It's not a massive pull on the shirt. Under the test of was it impactful? No. And did it hinder Simms movement? No, not really. The other factor is, was their mutual holding? Yes there was.
Even if advantage was played, the advantage was Simms taking the shot, not Torp tapping it in.

Constantly tracked back and was an absolute menace to them. Just being there got their player sent off.
Wright came to us as a striker but has added a lot more to his game under Lampard.

Simms is a rare forward who hardly ever gets booked.
Have a look at yourself.
Haji worked hard, their CB’s tried to bully him, ending in one being sent off. Yes he
missed a good chance, but just enjoy a good victory where the whole team played well.
Wright plus every other player deserves credit for today’s performance.
Grimes very good and great response from Da Silva. We looked comfortable all afternoon - how often can we say that!

Agree with what you’ve posted here.
Grimes brings the ball up with him from deep, was good seeing him driving the ball forward.
Agree on Tats, been underwhelming and really shows we needed to bring in a winger in the summer.
Brau lost the ball a couple of times and his touch receiving the ball let him down a couple of times, can see why JDS has the shirt which I never thought I’d say.
Good to see KKH get some minutes and I would love to see a MVE/KKH link up and give Tats a rest. I really feel for KKH at the moment as I’m sure he is a bit disappointed to join us and not play so maybe that linkup could give us the best of both worlds having two of the best RWB’s in the league at our disposal.
Wasn’t Wright’s best game but he’s always going to be a threat and had their CB’s worried, was a silly booking that was already called offside but it was very close.
Really hope to see Simms get some confidence in his game so when we bring him off the bench when it’s jus not Wright’s day like yesterday he has some impact in the game for us cause sometimes when we bring him on he doesn’t have the desired impact of what we would hope of a player with fresh legs. It wasn’t a foul for Torps goal, but he got amongst it, just wish he would bully defenders a bit more. Too much of a gentle giant

I really liked what I saw of Andrews when he came on.
Couple of nice little lay offs in tight areas which showed a lot of confidence
Yeah, you have to take into account we were playing a tired and well beaten 10 men by that point but all he can do is keep performing when he gets a chance.

Dasilva was excellent yesterday, especially coming after a torrid time against a £17 million player in Fatawu , to produce that performance .
The Lampard mentality is certainly having a big effect , with 8’s across the board , but 9 for Jay .
The subs played their part also , without dropping the pressure on the blues goal …..

There is a thread for comments on the match in general. This one is for player ratings. I don't need to have a look at myself. I always give my honest assessment. Sometimes others agree, sometimes they don't, which is what it is all about. The time I will have a look at myself will be when I am afraid to give my opinion.

You can only play against what is in front of you. I thought all the subs, came on and showed intent with a point to prove. They gave the game a fresh energy and stopped it becoming a keep possession training exercise.

For all his good showing is Da Silva a long term solution? Brum were poor at exposing his defensive weakness.
Poorest: Wright. May have worked hard but we pay him to get into places to score goals. Oddly you may think, but I'd put Saka in this category as well - he is such a one trick pony. It's a good trick but the better defenders learn how to marshal him pretty quickly.
Hon mention for Simms who had already proved admirably direct even before the third goal
Not sure yet what kind of player Andrews is? At the moment he is a midfield worker bee but not sure what his personality is, in the way we know exactly the personalities of Torp, Rudoni and Grimes.

There are always negatives. Always. Dealing with negatives when you win is probably the most important thing of all. In the end Saka is a one trick pony. He never goes to the line, he always cuts back. Defenders aren't stupid. Just because he's from the far east and has brilliant control does not make him another Song
No but you can rest them when it's a comfortable performance,if he's up to speed with our system.
