The defence of him by Robins wasn’t particularly convincing either. If one of his players is going through a family death you’d expect him to be more sympathetic..

I think the general consensus is that it was a punt that could have been a master-stroke.

No one was to know at the time whether or not Bright was going to get his head down and become a valuable asset. There are those that like saying “told you so” but in reality no one had a clue, not even Bright I suspect.

Robins took a risk. It hasn’t worked out by the looks of things. The odd calculated risk is a mark of ambition, not foolhardiness necessarily.

So that’s that.

What way forward? Tearing up a contract might not be as easy done as said.

Do we totally give up on him? Do we send him on loan somewhere so boring that going out and partying is not possible?

I’ve waffled about mentoring before, is that an option?

What’s the point? At most other clubs they’ve quickly worked him out. Based on what’s been posted on here, I’m sure he’d be able to find his way to London even if sent somewhere boring.

Can understand the risk as I think there is a player there somewhere, but I don't understand why there were no clauses in place so we could get rid easily if he started pissing about again.
Especially as it was likely going to happen with his previous clubs

Someone who’s had numerous contracts and loans terminated is a bit more than a punt tbh. Someone like Hilssner was a punt

I’d 100% agree if it were any other player & manager combination.

Some managers believe they can get the best out of certain players. Robins grew up watching how Ferguson worked and (I’m reaching here, I know) might have thought that he could get the best out of Bright as he had (in some ways) before.

Now for the laughing emoji bait:

It’s times like this that an Archie Knox (who worked with Ferguson at Aberdeen and Man United and I thought we were lucky to get here (huge mistake letting him go IMHO, Black aside)) type character might have a place in the set up. An additional member of the coaching team (besides Ady of course) who has that bit of mentoring / discipline about him. Doyle comes to mind.

Viveash is a tough character. Read the interviews he did and players comments on him.

If a player has gone to different countries, worked under different managers and the end result is the same. Look at the elephant in the room

There might be, Robins certainly doesn’t hang his dirty washing out in public does he. We are proberbly stuck with him until at least January.

And where’s the extra money coming from for this new coach? Perhaps he can fund it himself

U23s have just trained at the Higgs indoor bit.

Roll call:

Yeah, why should the club waste any more money on someone who is just taking the piss - he really isn't that good.

Talent wise if he proved himself in the championship we could have got a few million for him. He must have given robins some bullshit when he showed interest in signing him.no way back now if he's fuckd robins about he doesn't suffer fools gladly

New coach ? Must have missed that, we have this new first team coach Dennis Anderson so maybe he’s a contact through him to concentrate on him nothing to lose I suppose, probably flogging a dead horse though.

It was in response to The Philosopher who suggested another first team coach. Yes we already have Lawrence and Viveash

To be honest I’ve given up on him I think he’s a waste of a thread now. Trouble is too even if by some miracle he starts to improve & impress I can’t see us the fans or even his team mates come to that believing it, he’s well on the back foot.

If, as we've been told, he isn't training and is seen as disruptive, I highly doubt there's a way back for him.

I am just saying no point bringing up bad recruitment when also had good recruitment when managers who only had bad recruitment get of Scot free

If mowbray had signed bright and he not played the usual suspects would go mad

Recruitment deals with humans. It's not a game. Robins shouldn't be judged harshly on this either. Shit happens

I'm really not sure what your point is?
If you're questioning why Robins is given more leeway than Mowbray surely you can see why after two promotions, keeping us up and the start we've had this season?

Stop getting your knickers on a twist . You are angling for an argument

Just pointing it out because it will go unnoticed to the haters. Doesnt need to be a big thing. People should just accept when I am right.

I think most on here are adult enough to see the gamble side of all this of course he has cost wages but there are plenty of flops in our history who have cost us loads in wages and transfer fees. Had he turned out to be the Bright of two or three years ago we would all be very happy.

Not sure anyone cares enough about Mowbray to ‘hate’ him - he’s pretty irrelevant to us.

And accentuated by the fact we had him before, and he dicked us around about whether he'd sign once his loan spell ended. I can understand the likes of Kasteneer, and why Morrison keeps getting a club too for that matter - each manager thinks they're the one who can change them. We had him and, although he did well on the field, stories of him dicking about came out and the way he sodded off was somewhat messy. You'd think that would have burned every bridge going.

It's actually a very un-Robins like signing!
