Ipswich will also have added more players to an already stacked squad by then. As for ourselves, it’s good to have more depth but I’m a bit unsure about relying on young loanees to provide it. More of a proven quantity and I’d be more secure of our prospects.

This is a joke post, right?

Have you been asleep for the last 15 years where we've left the city over rent disagreements?

Surely even you can see that having an asset like your own ground, instantly makes you a more attractive proposition for potential investment??

Instead of paying rent with zero asset ownership, that money now pays the mortgage, if in ten to fifteen years the shit hits the fan financially, there is a massive asset there to secure funding and investments from.
If the site gets further developments, all the income from those developments also come into the club instead of whoever else.
It removes the limits of someone else taking everything whilst we just lose the rent money with nothing coming back.
Short term, there may be losses, but long term with the right site management it could be a decent additional income that otherwise would just be lost and in someone else's pocket.

The rent disagreements were pretty much all instigated by us. Is the argument as BSB said that we can’t get kicked out or that we are better off financially not paying rent?

What income though? Every owner since it’s been built has gone bust.

Once. The Northampton time was of our (SISU) own choosing. It was only when we went to St.Andrews we were evicted.

It wasn't rent free - it states in the story that the club would pay ACL's costs for staging a match on a pass through basis. Some of those costs would typically be theoretically covered by rent.

In reality both were gamesmanship by our owners to try and get an advantage and were entirely in our control. IIRC the issue was CCFC refusing to rule out suing Wasps or something.

Your mates at the council lost, get over it. The grand plan to milk the club for rent for 50 years failed.

Going to watch CCFC play in the rotting WASPs bowl was like a humiliation ritual. It was completely embarrassing. We actually feel like a proper football club again.

Yeah that was it. Wasps said if we take away court proceedings theyd keep us on as tenants. Either way, it was them kicking us out rather than us leaving.

Going to go out on a limb and say midtable L2 and top of Championship have different vibes for non property ownership reasons.

They were still humiliating us even at Championship level, we didn't have a pitch at the start of one season ffs! The arena was a run down state and i'm pretty sure the team was still not allowed to use the main changing rooms as that was for the piss drinking VIPs. As i say, a complete humiliation ritual, i've met very few people who were ok with it.

We engaged in a rent strike against the owners. That doesn’t happen if we own the ground.

By the definition of the time “unencumbered freehold” we still don’t. Sisu would still be striking now.

Anyway, I am glad Sisu eventually fucked off and a normal person who can make basic business relationships replaced them.

Then what is the arguing about? We are our own landlords. If you can’t see how that’s superior to what came before I don’t know what to say.

Shmmeee....surely you can see how owning our own stadium is so much better than renting off someone else??

It doesn't matter who instigated moves before...the fact that we own the ground means there's no chance of moving again - that's surely positive right? Not having to renegotiate a rent deal every 5-10 years can only be a positive.

A normal person whose only reason for being here is stadium ownership, which you seem to be arguing against.

I thought that postponement was the result of the weekend. My lad told me about it as we were waiting for the train home. An Ipswich win on Sunday would have made a depressing day even more so. By the time that game goes ahead we may have recaptured our mojo and might not care who wins.
