It is with a combination of outrage and disgust that I have to inform Bolton Wanderers fans that the deal to sell the club to Football Ventures has been temporarily suspended in the last hour.

Late this afternoon, we were informed by lawyers acting for Laurence Bassini that he had been awarded a court order attempting to prevent the sale of Burnden Leisure Limited, part of an action against a company owned by Ken Anderson.

It beggars belief that Mr Bassini, a man who publicly professed to care passionately for the club, has now, through his actions, threatened its very existence.

Despite a long and hugely complex process of negotiation, we were finally on the brink of completion this afternoon when Bassini’s order was served.

Our lawyers are now in conversation with Counsel in a bid to overturn the order immediately.

What a bitter and twisted individual Bassini is.

That’s a shame. They’re a historically great club, but, sentiment aside, I want us to play them this Saturday while they still have only 5 registered first team players, because as sure as eggs are eggs, they will eventually get ‘saved’ or reprieved. So in a purely selfish way, I would like them to survive.

But I’d just like them to be slightly depleted until such time that we have secured 3 points on Saturday.

Bassani states he’ll be at the match on Saturday (if it goes ahead) not sure that’s such a good idea tbh.

Who could have predicted an administration led by Appleton wouldn't go smoothly.

Suggestions from Bolton fans Appleton failed to discover the agreement Bassini alleges he had with Anderson to buy the part of the club which holds the Golden Share. Now where have I heard something similar before????

How far back was he in talks with them? You sometimes get things like 6 month exclusivity agreements when you can't try and sell to anyone else. Would have thought administration would override that.

Has he ever put any money in, maybe he's making a claim to owning an assert they need to pass on to a new owner.

He reckons he had an agreement from Ken Anderson in writing that he would only sell the club to him.

Isn't it out of Anderson's hands now?

BREAKING: Businessman Laurence Bassini has, this afternoon, obtained an injunction in Manchester High Court preventing the sale of Bolton Wanderers.

He is alleging breach of contract by owner Ken Anderson, with whom he had a written agreement to buy the club.#BWFC

Is this about the hotel again. Is it the Ritz or something, seems to be a lot of hassle for a hotel in Bolton.

I think the hotel has complicated things but not sure it’s why Bassini is trying to stop the sale. I don’t really have a clue what’s going on tbh. It’s as much a mess as our club!

Sounds like he’s just angling for a payday. Hopefully the FL will ban him for life after this is settled and outlaw whatever ever mechanism he’s negotiated to gain this angle from happening again.

12 years and counting, no stadium and no prospect of a return to Cov in the foreseeable future. Practically, how is anyone going to get them out?

Can we have Bolton's ground then, if it's no good to them anymore? :emoji_relaxed:

Cannot see the game going ahead under these circumstances - think the EFL will postpone like bury -

Yes it’s the hotel that’s the issue not the football club

This could be real trouble for Bolton fans as the statement says Our lawyers are now in conversation with Counsel in a bid to overturn the order immediately. This could go back and forth on appeals for months or years, sounds like nothing can be done on the football side until this is sorted

This says all you need to know about him. Horrible individual that shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a football club. A 3 year ban wasn’t enough.

Madness that a third party who never even put a penny down can force some sort of court order that threatens an institution to not fulfil it’s fixture. Especially one the size of Bolton. Football is bolloxed. The football league need to approach the highest courts in the land and get some proper authority. Either that or the government need to pass some proper legislation. Games gone mad.

That could be a huge problem for them.

We all know how fast the courts work and at some point the EFL will have to do something. Can't go on like this for weeks let alone months or years.

Illustrates the problem when people say the EFL should do something about owners. This is once again just business law, its not even got to the point of anyone ruling about someone being 'fit & proper'.
