I once got into a scrape at a match at Highfield Road. We'd played Burnley in the Cup - 3-0 I think we won - and afterwards I was walking past some of their fans. You could tell they were riled, but I made sure I kept my head held high and didn't avert my gaze. They came within a few metres of me and without thinking (crazy, I know) I said "Watch it!", just loud enough for one of the woman to hear. But I couldn't be bothered with any trouble that night, so I just increased my pace a little and jogged back to my car. Talk about an adrenalin rush! I'm far too old for all that now though. Crazy days!

It's not big and it's not clever. It's certainly not "hard" fighting in a group where you can hide behind others. I have done a bit of boxing & kick-boxing in an organised manner & I understand the adrenaline rush. I just think its utterly stupid & brain dead terrorising innocent people. I don't really care about the chavs who go out looking for it getting hurt, it's the innocent folk and their property who get caught in the middle of it through no fault of their own. If people want to fight, be man enough to go one on one with each other and make sure no innocent person gets caught up in it.

I spoke again to a big Blues fan at work today. He laughed at the suggestion that Brum had a mob called the zulu warriers still around in 2012. He also dismissed the suggestion that there was a 'wrecking crew' on there way down the a45. It's simply not happening. Sorry to dissapoint the few that are looking to a scrap but it aint happening.

I speak to several 'big Blues fans' every day and the Zulu's still exist. European away games drew them out for certain and I know from good sources that there should be a few out tomorrow.

The zulus only bother for big games, the big league cup ties last season and europe. This season they took the piss at Wolves so I don't know where the fella from the first few pages got he's 'story' from.

They'll be out tommorow though. I doubt they'll go around looking for it unless they've got a meet or your chavvy corner wants to give it the biggun. The majority of our youth will be dickheads though, I can't stand them apart from a few of my mates involved.

I was in jail with some of the lads from the Brummie gangs, and taken away from their gang mates they were just the same as everybody, no ego, no tough guy b.s. just normal lads doing their bird.

sadly was involved in yobbery in 70s and 80s home and away with a gud bunch of lads but grown out of it
now, hope so in my 50s. When I say sadly i enjoyed it.
tough when you re young easy to get involved in the fighting, its only when we grow up you see the problems we caused.
Blues holigans still exist just as the young Cov lads do, leave them to it as long as itsbnot in Tescos.

I was too young for the 70's, but was involved in the 80's. You didn't have much of a choice some away games. One game in particular, cup game against West Brom, we went on the special. The zulu's were waiting for us at new street. We had a couple of other brummie "fans" waiting for us on the way. Then we got a police escort up to a park near the ground. This stopped at the edge of the park. If I remember right it was dark. We then got attacked by baggies in the park. Once out of the park the escort was waiting for us again. Good game, think we lost 4-3. Then we had to fight our way home again.

It was more of looking after yourself, your friends and the name of your city than todays choice. You had to be there to understand.

Astute, that sounds like we had 2 sets of fans against us that day.

Makes you wonder what happened to make them both hate us?

What I don't get, is if they wanna fight, why not ring each other up on say, a Monday evening, meet on some wasteland somewhere, and have a fight? Why do it at a place where there are gonna be loads of police???

It's almost like they WANT to be split up and not actually get to fight. Weird.

Spoke to a copper at the end of the underpass tunnel on the way in from Car Park C yesterday asking if they are expecting any trouble from the Yams Yams - he says there intelligence suggests there will be very little or none at all - proved right by the look of it

I started to worry when I noticed Barrington staring at me intently yesterday. Then he came over and hit the guy next to me.

Seriously, was Cod-eye there and did any trouble kick off?

40-50 older Blues ended up in Leamington after the game, leaving at around 11.30pm...no trouble....

And this is why we must support the authorities who will no doubt throw the book at those nicked Cov & Derby for last Saturday. Going to football nowadays is mostly a fun day out thankfully.
