Forget the Premier League. We still top the 'years since a top 6 finish' even if you take out 30 years. Is this not an issue for you? That CCFC have fallen 2 divisions and yet still can't produce a winning team?

We thought falling into the Championship we'd do something. We never.

We thought even falling into League 1 we'd do something. We never/haven't yet.

Who do you blame Grendel?

The problem was we didn't bounce back quickly.

For that the blame lies on the shoulders of mcginnity

It was Richardson that caused our downfall. It was even him that sold our home without having a replacement.

Did he get us demoted from the championship then?

Funny I thought you blamed Thorn for that.

The thing is I have been following City for over 40 years And bar the FA Cup I have seen no success.
Season after season I would have that CCFC optimism only to be let down year after year.
Good job I still have that belief.
Too many of my friends who were CCFC season ticket holders have lost this faith and now know little or nothing to do with their old love, shame really, some even laugh at me still going.

Since we've fallen out of the Premier League, last 15 years:

No top 6 finish
1 top 10 finish
12 times finished in the bottom half
3 times finished in the top half

Average league position: 19th

So the only way is up. Hopefully this season will give at least our 4th top half finish and possibly our first top 6

Hopefully next season building on this....if we finish top half then next season look for top 6. If top six look for auto next season (or consolidate in championship if we get promoted) etc. use the current season to improve next

We have been junk haven't we. When it's put into stats like that it's pretty shocking. Still West Brom or Stoke would give anything to have what we've had so it doesn't matter. Apparently

Well Stoke went almost a quarter of a century with no top flight football and West Brom only two seasons in a quarter of a century.

Also neither club have won a major trophy for over 40 years and actually Stoke have only ever won the league cup at a time when it had very little status.

Basically people are moaning that we were a small club who rose through the divisions and then maintained our top flight status for so long? Oh how I wish we could have plummeted back down the leagues and then won promotion to league 1, it would have been so much better!!

No one is complaining about the Prem. However, we've been out of it for 15 years and finished in the top 10 once. This suggests that CCFC can't produce a winning team at any level and are only going to keep falling down the divisions if we have a higher chance of relegation than promotion every season.

You just keep mentioning the Prem because that's all your argument is. No one has complained about that. If you didn't realise we've been out of it for 15 years and our average position since then is 19th.

Stoke were out of it for 23 years and west Brom all but for a couple of seasons out for 25.

Then why do so many keep banging on about 45 years when it is irrelevant?

Surely they mean the last 15 years, in which our record has been poor.

And? What on earth has that got to do with anything?

My point is CCFC are losers, simple as. We never won games in the Prem, we never won games in the Championship and we haven't won games in League 1. We have a losing mentality, new managers have said it and not one of them has managed to sort it.

What's your thoughts on 1 top 10 finish in the last 25 years Grendel?

I'm not complaining about our time in the top division (div1 and premiership) but when we were there it was less dominated by a top 6 that never changed. Teams like villa, forest, Blackburn, etc won it. Other teams hit top six who wouldn't in today's premiership.

I'd still go along with no top 6 finish for 45 years is rubbish in any league, even in the Prem. Ipswich, Southampton, Leicester, Bolton, Middlesbrough all managed a high
finish/European football recently.

These clubs aren't any different to CCFC. Just our board would rather have finished 17th than gamble and push on like Stoke, Swansea and Southampton

I genuinely think we accept rubbish because it's the norm, we've never known a winning team, in my lifetime anyway and just accept 17th is good.

Like I've said before - you just have to look at the neutrals views to this record and they just laugh and ask why our fans keep going every year when we all know it's going to be another year of struggle.

Absolute crap. You offer any of those teams you've mentioned 34 consecutive seasons in the top flight and a cup win but tell them you will never finish inside the top 6, they would all snap your hand off.

Where has anybody said that 17th is good?? Seems to me everyone pretty much agrees that the last 15 years have been shit.

What is everyone arguing about? 34 years in the top flight and an Cup win (considering the size of the club/resources, etc) is excellent.
15 years of struggle in Champ/L1 (considering the size of the club/resources, etc) is poor.

I know they would. However, avoiding relegation is what you do when you first get promoted, no? Considilate for 2-3 seasons then move forward like Stoke, Swansea, Southampton have done.

I'm proud of our long record in the Prem but I think we could have done better and showed more ambition

What you mean we should have spent money we didn't have, therefore fucking ourselves up for the next 15 years if we were to get relegated?

It doesn't matter that much anyway. We'll be getting 2 promotions in the next 2 seasons which will make up for the other years.

Keep the faith

Absolutely agree. Once we got into Europe we should have pushed on. Also unlucky that after cup win English sides banned from Europe. So yes 34 years in top flight is excellent but really accepting for so long a last day relegation battle is an underachievement

You don't need to spend loads to be successful. Just we never improved our defence in the Prem which was always our downfall - we always had a good attack and midfield

Yea, it just seems people are determined to smear the time in the top flight and trying to paint it as crap.

Newly promoted Ipswich in 2000/01 season finished 5th. Come on if a newly promoted team could do it within 1 year then a club who's been there for 34 years should be able to do it aswell
