I can remember listening to that 5-2 away win in 92/93 on Radio 5 and Alan Green remarking “that it was a hilarious result…even the policeman is laughing at along with it” and various other put downs. I was so incensed the 16 year- old me wrote a letter to 90 Minutes magazine complaining about him.

Do I win the award for the most 1990s post today?
Yes I remember a bit "of a stink" after Alan Green condescending comments at the time for that win.
Similar strange take on game in same era when we drew 1-1 wiith Swindon at home with a late Swindon equaliser. We hammered them but not according to Alan Green.

I was at that game, they were just starting to develop the ground and had taken the roof off the away end. We were just there to make up the numbers as far as everyone else was concerned, absolute gold to stuff them like we did.

Alan Green was* a colossal cock-end. Looked like a gargoyle and all the wit of a dropped-trifle. Brainless pub-bore convinced that everyone gave a fuck about his ill-informed views on anything, when all they wanted was to know what was going on in the football.

*Is? I have no idea if he's still alive. Honestly couldn't care.

Can't stand the c**t, and you've summed him up, and my feelings towards him perfectly.

Well this has fucked me over. Tentatively asked my new boss for a half day and he's already got me down to cover other people's annual leave. Same for Portsmouth.

Utterly, utterly gutted

The commentary for that game - Including pre build up became known as 'Blackburngate' amongst Sky Blue circles.
I've not heard it but apparently even before the game the insinuation wasn't whether Blackburn would win or not (they were going to do it at a canter) but how many goals they were going to stick past us on the way to reclaiming top spot.

Blimey, I got the wrong Alan Green then . I was thinking of the green and black striped shirt Alan Green who scored shit loads for us in the 70 s

Thats a good deal for an Uber. Lots of options, positive now as was worried for Sat game about getting a ticket despite the likely 7k allocation.

Been to Ewood quite a a lot of times, some highs and some real lows. Biggest low was losing in FA cup in 1980 when they were in level 3 and we had beaten Liverpool in front of 31K week before. We had not beaten that home crowd until very recently.
Seen a few thrashings there. The 2-5 midweek win in 1992 was a highlight for me, last fans to stand on the old Darwen end.
''Super Ben Wilson' moment was good too plus an away win in cup in 'Darren and Noel' days .

No one there of course but we got a very important draw 1-1 draw in covid season in championship. I was nearby and was in Darwen that afternoon climbing up to the Darwen tower, so 'kind-off' went to the game!

Went to the game in 80, was at college in Liverpool at the time and met some more City fans in Lime Street station. Seem to remember being frog-marched back to the station after the game by the plod!
