Oh this is ap-peel-ing, or even apple-ing...

When you say "apples" J-J, are we talking Mac's, iPads, iPhones or what?

There are a few newspapers that have covered it now:

@Houchens Head: I bloody wish it'd been a few apple ipods/ipads instead of some good for nothing pieces of fruit :D They'd probably have been pretty useless once they'd hit the ground & smashed into teeny tiny pieces though eh mate? ;)

Actually J-J, I believed your first post, but just have a really warped and daft sense of humour! You'll get to know me! ;)

Moira just used this as her Pun filled story on Radio 2.

This got some major coverage on Radio 5 Lives "Drive" programme last week, too! Not sure which day, maybe Weds or Thurs? Lots of texts from listeners, including a cracking "we do have apples in Coventry, you know..." Should still be on the iplayer if you can be bothered searching for it.

Forgive my skepticism but I think the truth is somewhat more mundane. A couple of years ago I was on the Radford Road watching the Cov Half Marathon runners go by. One of the lead runners was hit by an apple (big cooking apple so it must have hurt:eek:). Anyway I saw where it had come from and there was a group of youths throwing them up in the air so they landed on the other side of the carriageway (it was where the road splits into two separate parts). i chased after them and they all ran off towards Bulwer Road. I haven't seen any reference to the actual spot but i'll bet it was in that vicinity.
