I don't get the logic.

You prefer a left footer at LCB but what if the only LCB gets injured? Why would you be happy to have a right footer play LCB but not a left footer play RCB?

That’s the point I’m putting forward, but I’m probably wording it badly.

Football doesn’t like a left footer at RCB and will seldom play one there. However, football is fine with a right footed player at LCB.

E.g Terry, Varane, Vidic would occupy LCB for their respective clubs. (All right footed)

Off the top of my head here, players such as Laporte when at City, Torres at Villa, Martinez at United would never be used in RCB. (All left footed)

Whilst it’s good we had two LCBs, I’d argue they’re only ever going to occupy the left of defence and can’t be used anywhere else, where as a right footed player will play RCB and LCB.

Don't know if it's a myth that he's the top earner. Could be complete fiction put about by some rumour monger but it's a popular rumour. It's hard to believe Robins and DK would have loaded him up with 30K a week after having him here for the previous season.
It's complete fiction, like obviously too! No way a backup CB gets anywhere near that.

Moving to Bromdby proves it. Either they are pretty much doubling their highest earners wage to bring him in. Or he took a huge wage cut ...Or we are subsidising 10k odd per week.

None of which is remotely plausible. God knows what he was on, but I doubt it's close to even half of the 30k quoted

It wasn’t . Saddle confirmed at the time he was on about a third of the suggested 30k. Which is simply laughable and anyone who genuinely believed that is a Moron .

5 year deal. Brøndby IF henter Luis Binks

Brøndby IF has signed a 5-year deal with 23-year-old English defender Luis Binks, who is moving to Vestegnen from Championship club Coventry City FC.

The left-footed centre-back received his football education at Tottenham Hotspur's youth academy and has since played for, among others, Bologna in Serie A and CF Montreal in MLS, before moving to Coventry City FC last year.

The 23-year-old Englishman also has several youth internationals on his CV, where he has represented various youth national teams for England from U16 to U19.

Director of Football Benjamin Schmedes talks about the arrival of Luis Binks:

- During the summer, we have had a clear focus on finding the right player profile for our back line, and therefore we are pleased that we have succeeded in signing Luis Binks, who is a skilled type of defender who does not hang on trees, says Benjamin Schmedes.

- Luis is a modern left-footed centre-back who combines a good passing foot with aggression in duels. He is well-educated and has experience from several international leagues despite his young age, and therefore he also fits well into both our playing style and our culture.

Binks talks about his move to Brøndby IF:

- Brøndby IF is a huge club with a great history, and I would like to help write about it further. I know several of the legends who have played here, such as Schmeichel, Laudrup, Agger, etc., and that therefore testifies to a club with great luminaries. I hope that we can achieve great things together, and then I'm just looking forward to getting on the pitch and experiencing the club's fantastic fans, says Binks and elaborates on himself as a player:

- I am a left-footed, ball-playing central defender who is good in the air and likes to build up the game from the back - and otherwise I am looking forward to showing the fans what I can do and what I stand for.

Binks has a contract until the summer of 2030 and will wear jersey number 4 at Brøndby IF.

Terry, Varane, Vidic were CBs in a different era

Binks play RCB in his last game

One really good tackle. One magnificent celebration of a disallowed goal, some deceptive diagonal passes hit at 90mph (often 6 feet above the head of the winger on the touchline), and one head butted post at Kenilworth Road

If he played like he did in the man utd game all season he'd be first name on the team sheet every game
Inconsistent.

We now
£2.5m for Binks and a free for Bauer - DK been drinking some of the SISU Kool-Aid has he?
Tbf makes sense. Binks would've played as many games as Bauer would. But Bauer has more experience

Very interested to see who comes in as a replacement now. It was clear that the existing CB corps wasn’t up to the job. I’m hoping for a marquee signing to replace Kitching at LCB, and personally think that would make us a real force. But if the rumours of a cheap veteran like Bauer are true…

Transfer makes sense as he wasn't going to be first choice. Defensively not astute enough but was the most comfortable with the ball at his feet of any of centre backs. Still only young so time to improve. It will be interesting to see how he does.
Hopefully, bring in someone ready to compete as a regular starter.

Here's a thought, marquee CB plus Bauer with Lati also being chopped out. Would give us kitchen fighting for the spot and an old head in there too

Would like to think that we wouldn't have sanctioned this without having someone lined up to come in by the end of the week. 3 centre backs simply isn't enough as we don't want to leave ourselves short when the season starts. Personally I think we have to be a bit brutal and look to bring in a real quality centre-back who will come in and immediately take either Thomas or Kitching's place. The defence was a real weakness last season and I'm not sure either are quite up to the level required if we want to challenge at the top of the table for the duration of the season. Playing in front of a (hopefully) competent goalie should help but you can't afford to sit still in this league and if there are weaker points in your squad you really have to target them and not be overly sentimental.

If you google Luis Binks wage it comes up on every article that he was on £30k and also says he was our top earner. Hard to believe but it’s numerous articles
