On voting which isn't really related to the thread, I don't think it should be compulsory but that politicians need to engage a lot more with the 30-35% of the electorate that doesn't turn up even in a GE
Yes I know but you have to have the ability to spoil the ballot and frankly Australia isn’t a great example of democracy - people can’t be dragged to a ballot box - I’ve hardly ever voted in most local elections and if I had to I’d vote for Tarquin Biscuit Barrell
Ironically Russia doesn't have compulsory voting. The fine in Australia for not doing it is pretty nominal anyway
