We haven't seen the best of him (whether it was lack of preseason/formation/age), but I think he'll get better.
We met him twice with the kids (Christmas party and as mascots) - he is a really kind and genuine bloke, still remember him fumbling around in his kit bag for a minute finding a sharpy pen for my daughter to use for autographs!
But, if MR isn't going to setup to suit him (does question why he was number one target last year then not to play him in the best way), then so be it, let's hope he has a good replacement lined up!

£1million plus sell on clause is decent, although I'll be a bit sad we never got to see him hit his full potential here and after the hype when he signed it seemed like he would be here for a while.

Felt like he could've kicked on with us this season, but I'll take the money all day. Hope he does well.

MR made this comment recently “But it’s not a bottomless pit of money. We will not have increased the budget, which is another good thing because at the end of the day we will be within what we were last year.”
I can not see SISU gifting or donating money to the club and would they issue new share capital that would qualify- i dont believe so.
Pay £1m for a player and you have to pay the wages that match the valuation. even if Chaplin and Tyler deals are like for like in value you would think wages and agent fees will knock a big hole in our budget.
Perhaps the expenditure so far hasnt been to the levels thought.

Not quite sure how we've managed this, only a few months ago people were snapping Salfords hands off for 400k!!
Not sure why we spent to long chasing a player who now doesn't suit our style of play. Strange really. Once he finds his shooting boots will score loads.
Good business all round I reckon. He'll be a good player. Wouldn't surprise me if we'll be saying we should have held out for more money in 2 or 3 years.
Great business. 700k was not worth it but 1 million and a sell on clause. This lad clearly has it imo and best deal all round for everyone.

A real shame if he goes. Always thought we are yet to see the best of him (he’l was only 21 when he joined, moved from his home town club and never appeared fully up to speed) and believe that played in the right areas he will score goals (manages to get half a yard in the box)

Sounded like Doyle was pushing for us to sign him but then we went with a totally different style of play good luck to him don't see him setting the world a light in the championship but hope I'm wrong

If he comes good for Barnsley it's a piss poor fee and we've lost out
If Chaplin goes to Barnsley it'll be like a really shit modern version of the Jarni transfer.
That's football unfortunately and a risk MR is clearly going to have to take.
Silly to think that, his value was hardly going to increase much further for a player that wasn’t even a guaranteed starter here. I think it’s a good deal for all parties.
Even if he does come good for Barnsley, it's still far from guaranteed that he'd of ever came good for us. Could have had another poor season and not even been worth the fee we paid.
