Definitely.
Something a little different in terms of depth of character I think.
Great show and looking very unlikely there will be a season 2. Will be left be for sure.

Once in a blue moon Netflix make a stand out film.
A House of Dynamite - which dropped yesterday is one of them and I`d wager it may win an award or two.
Produced and directed by Katherine Bigalow, who did the Oscar winning Hurt Locker.
Without warning a nuclear missile is launched from an unknown location in the Pacific, heading straight for Chicago.
No one knows who launched it or why, just that it`s going to destroy Chicago and most of the area around it.
The film focuses on the initial disbelief, then panic of the US administration, as they desperately try to stop it and whether they should launch retaliatory strikes in the face of Russian and Chinese denials of the missile.
The building tension is palpable, as is the horrible creeping dread, as the realisation that there`s nothing they can do to stop it hits home.
Stellar cast and very well written ( Rebecca Feguson, Jared Harris and Idris amongst the British contingent )
Very sobering viewing and I have to admit that I didn`t sleep well last night after watching it.
Can`t recommend it enough.

I find Netflix documentaries a bit hit and miss, but I'll give that a go.
Two others on there I thought were pretty interesting were The High School Catfish and Beauty and the Bester.
Both pretty mental revelations, especially the latter.

Loved it. My missus, not so much, but basically just down to the ending.
I predicted the ending, she didn't and was most disappointed it didn't go the way she thought it would.
I thought it was outstanding. Definitely be up for many awards

I thought the ending was perfect, including the scene with Jared Harris, which although gut wrenching, really rammed home what was about to happen.
Very sobering viewing and a would have very happily paid money to see it at the cinema.

Just watched ‘The Girl with the Needle’. Scandi Noir is back and absolutely horrific.
I mean, it’s absolutely horrendous and one can only hope the “based on true events” tag at the end is only very loosely true. Not a comfortable watch.
One I would definitely recommend as I thought it was excellent…but only if I know what films you like.

I`ve read some of the reviews, which are pretty much near perfect and I`m a massive fan of dark films, but this sounds like the stuff of nightmares and I`m really not sure about watching it tbh ?

Well, it’s grim for sure but also kinda Grimm…and maybe this slight fairytale portrayal takes some of the edge off it. Ken Loach it ain’t.
But at the same time the subject matter is terrible and it doesn’t really holdback too much.

Just did a load of reading on it, sounds pretty similar in the way it`s filmed to the Lighthouse, which I thought was brilliant, so will put it on my to watch list, but for when my missus goes out and I can properly watch it.

I did not get on with The Lighthouse at all but as you say that I can recognise the similarities in vibe.
Strangely it reminded me a little of the Illusionist…although the films are nothing like each other. That might just be me.
I wasn’t a fan of the ending. To get to that point in the film three times and then handle it the way they did was always going to be divisive. I thought Rebecca Ferguson was great though, and clearly no-one does nuclear dread like Jared Harris.
The premise of the film is something I’m grimly obsessed with so I enjoyed it a lot. There’s a book called Nuclear War by Annie Jacobsen that it was clearly inspired by, although I’d read that Denis Villeneuve had also optioned the same book, so not sure what’s going to happen with that now!

About as historically accurate as the peaky blinders in the sense there was a gang called the peaky blinders, and a family called that made Guinness! Thats pretty much where both historical facts end

Only just got around to finishing this last night.
Overall the series was okay, but it felt like 75% of it was fiction rather than a true account of what happened.
Weird they went with him becoming a more sympathetic character towards the end who helps to catch Ted Bundy?!
Also made me more annoyed that Mindhunter got cancelled after watching the final "we've got Mindhunter at home" episode. Might have to do a re-watch as that's far superior

Cameron Britton`s performance as Ed Kemper, was one of the all time great portrayals of a serial killer.
Having read books about him too, they kept to the facts and didn`t invent stuff for entertainment purposes.
Apparently the reason for cancellation, was that although it was critically acclaimed, it was expensive to make, compared to the viewing figures.
Which is movie speak, for it didn`t appeal to the bucket of popcorn and coke masses, that Netflix generally caters for.

Watched A House of Dynamite last night, thought it was great. For something that essentially repeats the same 20 minutes three times over it absolutely sails by as well, and getting new detail in each third to tie it all together (Jared Harris' exit really took me by surprise, had to go back and see that again). Particularly enjoyed/was terrified by the complete futility of nuclear deterrents should someone decide to attack regardless, but I loved the ending; hinging on a split-second decision where nobody wins and the viewer is left not knowing what happened or who to, I think leaves that with you more than seeing the aftermath. Great casting as well, even down to cameo appearances like the defence secretary's daughter who was amazing in Dopesick.
Few minor issues, I can't be the only one who saw that there was still 15 mins left when President Stringer Bell was in the helicopter and was waiting for some kind of resolution and then instead it cuts to the world's longest end credits, cheeky scamps. Also I'm not sure when production started but seeing everyone on the conference call being educated and measured doesn't match up to current day when all involved would spend the 20 minutes on ket tweeting AI photos of themselves riding unicorns into battle in hell.

First time it`s been on tv.
If you haven`t seen it, it`s a very effective horror film, albeit filmed in a 70`s style cinematography, but don`t let that put you off one bit.

Gave the Ed Gein series on Netflix ago, but it’s shite. The subject matter is grim enough without what else they were thinking when they filmed it.
