Great show and looking very unlikely there will be a season 2. Will be left be for sure.

Once in a blue moon Netflix make a stand out film.

A House of Dynamite - which dropped yesterday is one of them and I`d wager it may win an award or two.

Produced and directed by Katherine Bigalow, who did the Oscar winning Hurt Locker.

Without warning a nuclear missile is launched from an unknown location in the Pacific, heading straight for Chicago.

No one knows who launched it or why, just that it`s going to destroy Chicago and most of the area around it.

The film focuses on the initial disbelief, then panic of the US administration, as they desperately try to stop it and whether they should launch retaliatory strikes in the face of Russian and Chinese denials of the missile.

The building tension is palpable, as is the horrible creeping dread, as the realisation that there`s nothing they can do to stop it hits home.

Stellar cast and very well written ( Rebecca Feguson, Jared Harris and Idris amongst the British contingent )

Very sobering viewing and I have to admit that I didn`t sleep well last night after watching it.

Can`t recommend it enough.

The Perfect Neighbor. Award winning documentary on Netflix.

Pretty much the whole film is police body cam footage.
Yeah, struggling a bit with it, but think it probably just needs time and sticking with.

I find Netflix documentaries a bit hit and miss, but I'll give that a go.

Two others on there I thought were pretty interesting were The High School Catfish and Beauty and the Bester.
Both pretty mental revelations, especially the latter.

I predicted the ending, she didn't and was most disappointed it didn't go the way she thought it would.

Been looking forward to House of Dynamite since I saw a teaser for it a while back, hell of a cast as well.

I've heard universal praise for The Perfect Neighbour but I don't think I can bring myself to watch it just as it's a reminder that people like that exist.

I thought the ending was perfect, including the scene with Jared Harris, which although gut wrenching, really rammed home what was about to happen.

Very sobering viewing and a would have very happily paid money to see it at the cinema.

I mean, it’s absolutely horrendous and one can only hope the “based on true events” tag at the end is only very loosely true. Not a comfortable watch.
One I would definitely recommend as I thought it was excellent…but only if I know what films you like.

I`ve read some of the reviews, which are pretty much near perfect and I`m a massive fan of dark films, but this sounds like the stuff of nightmares and I`m really not sure about watching it tbh ?

Well, it’s grim for sure but also kinda Grimm…and maybe this slight fairytale portrayal takes some of the edge off it. Ken Loach it ain’t.
But at the same time the subject matter is terrible and it doesn’t really holdback too much.

Just did a load of reading on it, sounds pretty similar in the way it`s filmed to the Lighthouse, which I thought was brilliant, so will put it on my to watch list, but for when my missus goes out and I can properly watch it.

I did not get on with The Lighthouse at all but as you say that I can recognise the similarities in vibe.

Strangely it reminded me a little of the Illusionist…although the films are nothing like each other. That might just be me.

The premise of the film is something I’m grimly obsessed with so I enjoyed it a lot. There’s a book called Nuclear War by Annie Jacobsen that it was clearly inspired by, although I’d read that Denis Villeneuve had also optioned the same book, so not sure what’s going to happen with that now!

How I Caught My Stalker on Channel 4. It might have worked better in a 24 Hours in Police Custody format but it was very interesting (and scary). I'd imagine she wasn't the first either.
