Watched mini series "The Hack" on ITVx the other day. Big all star cast led by David Tennant, Robert Carlyle and Toby Jones, but there are many other quite well known actors in it even though I would struggle to name most of them.
Generally I do not much like what Tennant or the writer Jack Thorne do if they have a woke vehicle but apart from a few token roles for black and disabled actors this was not so badly baked.
It is about the phone hacking scandal that resulted in the News of the World being shut down. The interesting angle is that the episodes alternated between centering on the investigative journalist Nick Davies (played by David Tennant) and Met Police Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Cook (played by Robert Carlyle). In the Tennant episodes there are some surreal scenes and much addressing the 4th wall. The Carlyle episodes don't use these techniques.
All in all I thought it was pretty good.
