Was talking to a few lads from work earlier and couldn't decide the best atmosphere I have experienced away from home. It boiled down to about 5/6 occasions. What about everyone else?

Not a league game so does it count?

QF 87 against Sheff weds. Drinking with their fans all afternoon before the game. Banter was great. Very good game. Shame there had to be a loser. Drinking with their fans afterwards. Did a pub crawl on the way out of Sheffield. Got a lock in on outskirts of Sheffield. Think it was about 4am when I got home. Had so many invites to return. Great set of fans.

Have been to their games a few times when not playing us. Know a few Sheff Weds fans. Always a good time.

Loftus Road always sounded loud in our end due to the low roof. So low that my mate Jimbo (some of you may know him as the TNS editor), smashed his head on one of the metal beams when Kyle scored. No idea why but Oakwell was always good as was the Whorehouse. We made loads of noise there when we won 2-4 and equally as much when we lost 5-0 (mentioned above).

Worst is the Molineux. Especially when you're in the Steve Bull Lower. Another bad one sadly is Wembley. Even when full you can hear a pin drop in Harrow.

I was there as a 14 year old upstairs in the leppings lane end. No pub crawl for me that day though:-(

Hillsborough 1987 semi v Leeds. I had no alcohol (often a key factor to enjoying the atmosphere), stood right at the top left of the kop with a superb view of pitch & SBA.

when we beat the vile in the league at vile park for the 1st time. i had to hide in the deadly doug stand as i couldn't get an away ticket. every time a cov goal went in some incognito cov fans in the deadly stand jumped up and the stewards dragged them out, by the time the last cov goal went in the only people left in the deadly stand was cov fans who previously like me were hiding, decided fook it and we all jumped up and down with the rest of our fans at which point the stewards also thought fook it and left us alone.

the only thing that ruined it was some fat bold middle aged vile fan outside who started picking on a 14year cov fan who was on his own shouting "come on my mate, yam not so big without your mates are yam" or words to that effect. anyway we rescued him and give him a lift back to the train station. funny how the big man got quiter when 2 grown ups confronted him about trying to pick a fight with someone who was young enough to be his son.

Wimbledon Away, (same season as the Spurs game to stay up) when they were playing at Palaces ground. God knows how many we took but we completely filled one side of the ground and turned it into a home game. I remember Dublin going around the entire team jeeing them up for it before taking up postion in the back four to counter attack Wimbledons long ball tatics. It worked and we won on that beautiful sunny day and what an amazing party we could have had on the pitch if all the other clubs at the bottom hadn't won as well and spoilled the party. I think the Villa didn't do us any favours either by lossing a certain home banker against one of them. Vinny Jones took tremendous stick but full credit to him he took it all in good humour.

Errington Kelly. I remember him playing for about half a season with AP Leamington in about 1981. played against his brother once in the Cov minor league about the same time.
did they both sign for Bristol Rovers as pro's ?

was this the match when NW scored a wonder goal practically from the corner flag (which of course wasn't a cross that accidently went in) ?

Blackburn away in FA cup ("Which one"? I hear you say) 1997, 98? One nil down after 17 seconds, 2-1 up at half time. Oggy penalty save from Kevin Gallagher in second half.

That was going to be my nomination, but it wasn't the same year we won at Spurs to stay up. We played Leeds at home the last day of that season - a 0-0 draw iirc (the game where there was a big punch up on the pitch).

Yes! Amazing night. Tommy Hutch scored a disallowed winner in front of the cup. I went in a minibus from Sidney Stringer School along with several teachers. Incredible atmosphere..amazing game. Severe fog on the way home meant we got back to cov at 4a.m. The teachers kindly advised us to have the following day off!
Great memories....
