Two penalties given away in three games now.

Yes, he’s done fine otherwise. Yes, you could argue the decisions were soft. But at what point do we think about starting Lee Camp?

As somebody said earlier he is quick off his line. Penalties came as a result of that plus side. The first one was a joke. The second one less so but still questionable. I would imagine that the defence are very confident in him.

He's doing well so far - a lot better than in his previous games for us!

Long may it continue.

Why, if we don’t need to use Clamp then that surely means Wilson is doing the business.

My point is that Wilson arguably isn’t doing the business, and we’re currently spending a fair whack on a keeper who most would say is better to just sit on the bench.

He's slotted in very well and not put a foot wrong. I'm not looking forward to the shouts for him back when Marosi is fit though.

MR's not a fortune teller though, nor are we....he's done well so far,I wouldn't like to see Camp just come in & play randomly, based on the fact he's of a 'higher' standard...fuck him

He's done well but not really faced all that many shots. His long kicking is much better than Marosi though which helps us no end

Plus how's Wilson not doing the business? He's not looked a clown a la Burge or flapped, why you so focussed on Wilson?

Because if Lee Camp had given up two penalties in his first three games for us, there may well have been a meltdown on here. I think it’s a fair question to ask.

If Wilson proves to be perfectly capable all along then it just makes the decision to spend money on Lee Camp slightly strange.

He’s been great, although couple of worrying, relatively straightforward flaps today which could’ve ended badly on another day.

I thought Wilson has done well so far, but today he did have a few dodgy moments, particularly the first spill before our first goal.

Another penalty conceded, a harsh one, but it’s something MR needs to keep an eye on.

Not really as Wilson was more or less un-tested,Robins wouldn't have known he'd come in & do a steady job hence why he drafted Camp in...he's probably pleasantly surprised about Wilson at the minute

How is it a strange decision to sign Camp? What happens if Wilson gets injured?

Nothing wrong with having a backup keeper, obviously. But when Marosi got injured there was this huge rush to sign an accomplished keeper on decent wages before the next game. If Wilson was perfectly capable then why not just put the youth keeper on the bench for a couple of weeks? Everyone does it.

The truth is that no-one really had much faith in Wilson being able to hack it, so we can’t pretend the Camp signing was just insurance. By his own admission he was shitting himself against Norwich. He’s done fine the past few games, and I’m happy for him so far, but everyone at the club knows he’s not a sure thing and the penalties are a bit of a red flag at this point.

2 penalties, 2 iffy decisions imo, the one at Norwich deffo got the ball and the player fell over him and today what else did you want him to do? stand on his line and allow a shot without a challenge? His overall keeping is good and he commands the area and comes for crosses which gives the defence confidence in him.

Fuck me even when we win, there always has to be a dampener on the game

In an ideal world I’d like him to not take out the player and give away a penalty.

I'm not one for slagging players especially our players but ask any fan of a team he's played for and they wouldn't be too complimentary.
Wilson has been as steady as we could have hoped for so I don't see any need whatsoever to leave him out.

Simply put he's better than Camp, he's our player longer term & has been around the team a lot longer so understands the style of play etc.

Camp was signed for backup whilst Marosi is out as Billson isn't ready, hence why Camp's contract is only until January initially. What happens if Wilson gets injured or sent off (always a risk for a GK)? You'd likely be throwing away points & potentially harming the development of a promising young goalkeeper.

From my perspective, we've been building bridges with the players (via supporters clubs etc) and while I might prefer one player to another (and yes, I think that Shippers should be dropped at the moment) I'm not prepared to call one of those players shit or turn on him. Part of the reason the club has turned around has been the bond built with supporters. I've travelled on the coach around the country with Shippers' dad and granddad, so feel for them (and us) when he's not performing. Regardless, even if it was a player I didn't know so well, what merit is there calling Fadz a donkey, Sheaf crap etc etc. If it is constructive - wanting Bapaga instead of Max, because he's got more pace, or McCallum instead of Giles, because he's better in the air, 4 at the back because etc etc, fair enough.....but just saying 'they're shit......no (and yet I agree, Shippers needs to learn how to tackle properly, otherwise he's going to struggle at this level)

This is something we need to understand when there's a charity get together you see the players chipping in. We are in a great position to encourage the lads. Unfortunately there's som knobheads about

Genuine question: how do we know Camp is on decent wages? I haven’t seen anything about it to be honest.

Wilson’s done well. Spilt one yesterday, bit of a lapse, but nothing came of it. Had one where there was a mix up... that’s not all his fault there. And the penalty, which was harsh but game was won by then. During the game though he’s come out and collected 3-4 crosses into the box comfortably and commanded his area. That’s what we needed against Rotherham.
Keeps his place on merit, done well in his 3 games so far.

Fumbled a bit yesterday, against a better team they would have capitalised on some of those mistakes. I think because we won he keeps the shirt but I wasn’t impressed. Would prefer to see Camp playing who is more proven, more experienced and is probably less shaky. Nerves appear to be showing in Wilson’s performance yesterday in my opinion

Yeah think this is worth highlighting among all the “hasn’t put a foot wrong”. He’s been decent enough in his three games, but two pens (one was never a pen), and two flaps today that could have fallen to their player for a tap in, isn’t quite not putting a foot wrong

So you prefer camp who hasn't played all season to replace a guy who has only conceded 3 in 3 games, 2 of which were penalties?

The 2 penalty decisions were very dubious and we need to see if that affects Wilson in the next few games .

Hasn’t done anything bad in the last few games to deserve being dropped.
