Maybe the bettwr way to phrase it would be hes not an elite manager "yet" although hes doing himself no harm by producing great things at bayern .I’d argue that Leverkusen massively overachieved that season - through sheer brilliance and to Kompany’s credit - a poor Bayern year.
Bayern reacted by spending 150m and flexed their muscles. Leverkusen never had the capital to compete with that.
Kompany isn’t a terrible manager by all means, he does what is expected. But to say he’s an elite manager would be disingenuous
For what its worth i dont think rob edwards could do a similar job , and i think kompany is doing an excellent job and youd have to say better than many big names before him
