The best managers can adjust based on the club they're at and the circumstances at the time. Love or hate him but Fergie would never have lasted as long as he did if he was a one trick pony.

Kompany will always have a blot on his copybook to me for not changing anything about his style with Burnley and getting them humbled in the PL. It may well have been good for Vincent Kompany but the cream of the crop put their team before their reputation.

Who do you class as the best managers around right now out of curiosity?

I saw a video of Rory Smith talking about Zidane winning 3 CLs at Real by not doing a lot of training, tactics, etc and standing watching games with arms folded and giving no instructions to players. It seemed that being Zidane was enough & Rory Smith was saying Real would probably take him back if he wanted it but Zidane seemingly wants to be French manager. Zidane clearly inherited a good Real squad but did nothing before or since so how can his time as a manager be rated?

He's literally known for his systems thatxhe sticks too. He is Mr gegenpress

Listen to BBC euroleahues podcast from just this week. German journalist says he shouldn't go real Madrid cos he won't adapt his system for the Madrid players
We all have our biases. For me he’s played a big part in making football entertaining again while dislodging the big dogs in both Germany and England.

Given Mbappe and Vini Jr just stand around by the halfway line when they don't have the ball can you imagine how they would react if asked to high press

Ok but he doesn't adapt. The very reason you and others say you don't rate kompany!

I've won guys. Again!
Not quite, I didn't rate Russell Martin for saying he wouldn't change how he played even if he lost every game.

I don't rate Kompany (yet) because a) his style of football isn't for me and b) it only works when you have the best players around.

Klopp has won domestic titles in two countries with unfancied clubs and it was essentially his squad that won the title last year too.

It's OK for you to just say you prefer the possession based, slow tempo build up stuff. We could end it there really.

The Manchester Derby was another nail in the coffin of slow possession for the sake of it football.

Thank you. The philosophy stayed the same

I swear some of you just argue cos it's me and you hate that I know lots about football!
I’ve got no issue with a framework and idea - but the difference is Klopp identified the issues and changed it up.

Burnley’s issues were there to be seen - yet Kompany ploughed on.

we’re not saying switch to hoof ball, but showing some kind of awareness on how to effect the game

Yeah try and drop you defensive line and mid block instead of high press

you can still try your possession football but just be more solid

As always respect your opinion but just so your aware how I see all this it's all the talk has been he's stubborn about his philosophy. Now it's turned into just vague "issues" and not philosophy after all once I dealt with that argument

It's like my wife. Never admit I'm right just move the goalposts!

Not sure how many times it has to be explained to you by this point.
