I’d argue that Leverkusen massively overachieved that season - through sheer brilliance and to Kompany’s credit - a poor Bayern year.

Bayern reacted by spending 150m and flexed their muscles. Leverkusen never had the capital to compete with that.

Kompany isn’t a terrible manager by all means, he does what is expected. But to say he’s an elite manager would be disingenuous

Maybe the bettwr way to phrase it would be hes not an elite manager "yet" although hes doing himself no harm by producing great things at bayern .

For what its worth i dont think rob edwards could do a similar job , and i think kompany is doing an excellent job and youd have to say better than many big names before him

I’d somewhat agree - as I’ve said, it’s more nuanced. Kompany’s playing name has got him opportunities at the right time, and would command more player respect than Say Rob Edwards.

I think Glasner is a far better manager, but given his past career as a player. He wouldn’t get the job at Bayern’s

All I have said is he is doing an above average job

You don't break records by doing an average job

Can you agree with that?

Remember when Rangers were out of the SPL and Celtic were breaking records? Thats what I consider Kompany’s record as. Things like this don’t stand out.

now if he wins the CL - I’ll give him his flowers

You're travelling away with the Gialloblu (forgive spelling!) ? Have you been to away games with them before? Must admit, that's a sort of bucket list thing for me (having read 'A season with Verona'). Jealous !!

The stats prove he's not just doing a standard job. It's as simple as that

He is clearly a good manager. And anyone with brains could see that.

This is extremely boring that you keep trying to reignite this discussion.

For the last time:

He's a good manager when he has better players than his rivals. He's a Guardiola disciple, and there's an art to that, certainly.

He's not a good enough manager to adjust when he doesn't have better players than his rivals, though.

Ask Burnley.

Agree. La Liga is another shit show as well. About 3 wins between relegation zone and a European place.

Isn't that a good thing? A competitive division where games could go any way?

For me the problem with la Liga is Barca and RM have far too much power and financial clout.

Don't be so rude. Dissapointing

It's not my fault you still fail to grasp that him changing tactics to keep Burnley up would have made him the sort of manager who takes on rescue jobs like allardyce or dyche not manage European giants. Which is all I have ever said

He showed enough at Burnley to make Bayern take note. You have missed the point because you are a Mike bassett type and now you are gutted the stats prove I was right all along.....again!

He has turned into a bit of a wind up merchant, and not in tune with his emotions, seems to get wound up quite easy.

I wonder if his cousin has found a way back onto his account

You have been in a mood since you DM me yesterday for liking a post by @Grendel about you. Asking me if there is a problem etc

You shouldn't let a forum effect you like this.

Gonna pop you on block for a little while. give you time to calm down and reset. A timeout so to speak. Take care.

I've been to a fair few away games with some lads I play football with but tend to just stick to home games these days. A few years ago I went to Napoli on a hired bus, which was interesting!

Mine was for Torino based on some memorable saves on LMA Manager. Historic club that was once all conquering, then had a plane crash and never hit the same heights.

I see what you mean, but it's more like five or six decent teams and then fifteen absolutely terrible ones. It can be trash to watch.
