Nearly a goal every second game at the moment in our league and would fit into our team perfectly alongside Frank. I would have cody back at the moment over a few of our other strikers.

His league one record is actually 28 in 94 games.

Never mind the fact that he was signed to perform in the championship where he managed 5 in 30.

He'd be hopeless in the system we currently deploy which requires movement outside the penalty area.

No he was mediocre last week and I would assume worse at Oldham.

He did ok in one game when he scored for half an hour before dying off a couple of years ago.

I don't know why you indulge in this curious obsession with individuals like Barton and dear beloved "Cody". He had a good 45 minutes but cost a fee and has been taking a wage under false pretences for 2 years. To me that requires a lot more payback than a good 45 minutes.

You obviously never went to any of the last 3 matches.

It pains me to say but he did have a decent game today and I have always been one of his fiercest critics.
If he improves on his pace and is prepared to get stuck in he may eventually win me over.
However I feel that the serious injury sustained whilst at Preston may have left a lasting effect on his ability to commit himself more.

Genuine question. Why does it pain you to say that one of our players had a good game?
Odd.

This is what you get with Conor Thomas too unfortunately. Some don't want him to do well because it goes against their cast iron, set in stone, judgement upon him.

If you say a player can't tackle and is lazy then obviously you want that to be fully justified and recognised every game, for fear of looking a fool if they prove you wrong.

Same too with Barton. I've always said he can't work hard and is a luxury player that breezes through games. Well, on Saturday, he did harrass and harry and he worked hard.

I have had an opinion on him, but that is not an opinion that is cast in stone or unwaivering. I have always been happy to accept that my opinion of him may well not be 100% accurate.

Too many pre-formed opinons clouding people's judgement on here at times I think.

When you get the likes of a 'Conor Thomas: Doing absolutely nothing since January 2011 ' that appears as an automatic template at the bottom of every single post you make, you kind of have set out your stall and are never going to be swayed from that blinkered view.

We should all be happy Barton had a good game, whether you rate him or not and we should all recognise when Conor Thomas has a good game, whether you rate him or not.

I'm not a fan of Thomas, but when I come out and say he's had a good game, I get accused of being either his lover or a member of his family. :claping hands:

We should all be happy Barton played well, simple as and it most certainly shouldn't pain us in any way.

Barton was one of the better players at Oldham.

But until he goes and we have someone better we have to try and get the best out of him. The same with all our players. The same with SP.

The whole club has to grow together. All great teams forge an identity and that is what this club needs. Something the fans can believe in and buy into.

This may be so but someone who was roundly criticised by his former club for lack of commitment and has shown nome here until (I assume ) his last year of his contract deserves scrutiny.

Well if this is the last year of his contract and he is trying to sell himself to other clubs, I think we should gladly milk that situation for all its worth if that means good performances from the lad while he's here.
