People will be pissed at this result and lash out at individuals but we've played well enough. Bit of a freak result and just one of those days where, as a manager, you dust yourself off, put the result behind you and focus on the positives, of which there were many.

oh I agree- we didn’t have what it takes to score, they didn’t even look like they wanted to score but they still had the nous to keep us out, we weren’t good enough and that’s the bottom line.

It’s massively disappointing to lose this, but last season we were saying how galling it was to not even look like we were competing. We were the better team by a country mile today. Outdone by Barnsley being shithouses and using every dirty trick in the book. That’s not the football I want to see, and I’m glad we don’t play like that.

We’ll be fine this season if we play like that every week.

I don't mind the yellows and the general shithousery is part of the game but the 2 or 3 players that were rolling around pretending they'd been elbowed in the face were disgraceful.

I know what you’re getting at but when you prioritise your attack and yet still fail to convert in a game like that against that opposition, it’s not a good sign.

no panic but that was a game we should have won at a canter and we didn’t have what it takes- last season yeah we could go with ‘unlucky, we’ll be ok’, but got to be setting sights a bit higher now I think

Terrible penalty kick by Gyokeres - karmic comeback for last week?

It's been a long time since I've seen a dirtier team than Barnsley. Persistent fouling and gamesmanship from the moment they scored. A pity, as I warmed to them slightly last season.

That said, we didn't create many clear chances - O'Hare's shooting bad again, but did anyone see him being pushed in the area as he shaped to shoot on his second chance?

I'm absolutely fucking fuming and don't know how I'll calm down now.

Annoying more than anything else. Always a tough afternoon at Barnsley but they will be counting their chickens having got away with that. We should have won and at the very least drawn at the end. No excuse for missing a penalty. It was a good performance second half and the home fans must have thought the inevitable would happen. We have had those feelings before. But it just never quite happened. We need teeth up front. Waghorn nowhere to be seen. Godden I hope is back very soon.

don’t agree- if we don’t score against opposition like that then we will have a major problem.

not bedwetting at all either, but forget them, we need to look at what we did wrong instead of blaming their roughhouse tactics, they won’t be the only ones to play like that
