Woke up still angry about that performance in the second half. Wrexscum were dominant and we struggled to string together simple passes. If we want to go up automatically, we can’t be so naive and failing at the basics - to teams like Wrexham.
KKH and Woolfenden are just as much occasional players as Allen and BidwellThe reactions are well OTT
We have another game on Tuesday and it’s clearly difficult to manage the squad with obvious injuries and players seemingly night able to do 90 minutes. Torp was pretty anonymous when he came on.
I would suggest the biggest concerns aren’t when we have to play occasional players like Allen and Bidwell but the performances of our two biggest signings in KKH and Woolfendon. KKH was out of position a lot and his distribution into the box was lacking.
Woolfendon made Moore look like Haaland - he bullied him all second half. In fact I’d probably say that if you made one change and Thomas could have played the result would have been different.

They are backups, put into one of their first games starting in a defence that had 3 out of the 4 players changed. They were going to struggle. They cost £8 million pounds between them and are players we will be looking to develop - can you be sensible for at least one post today?
If he doesn't have the confidence to play Lati or Andrews when we had such injuries/suspensions.I think the reality of the situation on reflection is that Lampard simply didn’t think he had the tools to fix it.
Mentioned in his press conference that he thought it was coming at half time. On the back three, unless you put Bidwell there, we didn’t have the numbers.
As much as we moan about Allen, Andrews against sheaf would have been a huge ask. The result was simply depth catching up with us.
Hopefully we should start to see Eccles, Torp and Rudoni back soon which will fix a lot of our midfield issues from the last couple of games. Plus Thomas which will give us the flexibility to go back three again (or even Lati).
But last night proved how much we need depth especially if we want to make the most of our start
Lati would have played if we had needed another CH and Andrews is an 18 year old kid who you need to bring in slowly. If he doesn't have the confidence to play Lati or Andrews when we had such injuries/suspensions.
Thomas,
MVE
JAy Da Silva
Rudoni
Torp
Eccles
Not able to start then we have to ask questions of their viability. They need to play or move on go on loan in January.

Maybe they weren't definitely gonna struggle but it was definitely a concern. Even the best players need a run of games sometimes. I wouldn't worry about either of them personallyT

They're not back-ups, they are signings made to give the squad depth and challenge for regular starts. They are backups
In a back four where 3 of the 4 were changed. They're not back-ups, they are signings made to give the squad depth and challenge for regular starts.
They played like back-ups, but that is not the same thing.
In their defence, it was their first and second league start for us.
I agree, I gave the caveat that it's very early in their City careers. In a back four where 3 of the 4 were changed.
Once we were ahead last night we should have brought Eccles or Torp on for Wright and tried to slow the game down.I don’t think Allen works in that role with Grimes. He's good energy but he doesn’t have that touch of class to make things happen. He's great at ticking things over but we need more.
That coupled with having a CF in the 10 just means we have less control.
We play Grimes, Eccles, Torp until Rudoni is fit. One of EMC or Saka drop out of the starting lineup for BTA until his goalscoring form drops off.
Agreed, no coincidence that we've suddenly found ourselves giving away a lot more chances and creating less. It was exceptionally naive of Lampard to go with it again last night.I might be in the minority but we need to move on from the Asante as a 10 experiment
I keep saying this but where we gain/drop points isn't really relevant, as long as we gain enough and don't drop too many!
Leeds dropped points to all 3 relegated teams last season and still won the league.
Just need to make sure we react positively Tuesday.
case in point the receding hairline weirdo freak on twitter.
So he lost on purpose? My gut feeling is Lampard sacrificed this game for the greater good. He decided taking too many risks with players carrying minor injuries was not worth it.
He also released the pressure valve of remaining undefeated and it gives him the chance to reset and go again, albeit that may be after the international break.
No, but I think he let it play out. He said himself he could see the way things were going, but still did nothing at half time.So he lost on purpose?
I'm sure he will have said guys don't let your levels drop etc but maybe there are times when you know things are not gonna pan out well otherwise some teams would have the magic formula and never lose? No, but I think he let it play out. He said himself he could see the way things were going, but still did nothing at half time.

Of course it’s completely unrealistic to expect never to lose. In the long run this game will probably prove to be a good thing ala Portsmouth last season.I'm sure he will have said guys don't let your levels drop etc but maybe there are times when you know things are not gonna pan out well otherwise some teams would have the magic formula and never lose?
I rmemrber losing to Lincoln on league 2 just before playoffs began was good for us tooOf course it’s completely unrealistic to expect never to lose. In the long run this game will probably prove to be a good thing ala Portsmouth last season.
Not until Rudoni is back. If anything, we seen how placid our attack was after we took the 2 strikers for more midfielders. We also ended up conceding more goals.I might be in the minority but we need to move on from the Asante as a 10 experiment
Our best performances have come when we have played 3 in midfieldThing is people saying we can't play 4 attackers but...we can? We did and we won a lot of games in a row lol
Is the issue for some people that we must win every single game we play? In which case why are we even debating with these weirdos?
It's a forced move due to rudonis injury. Not ideal but lampard found a way to win vast majority of our games without rudoni
Truly "awfull"
We have won with 4 attackers. That's what I'm on about. Our best performances have come when we have played 3 in midfield
Either Grimes, Torp and Rudoni or
Vs QPR , Derby
Since Rudoni injury.
Grimes, Eccles , Torp.
Birmingham, and Millwall.
So what u on about..the last couple of wins we were bad. And I'm discounting the Shef Wed Game.
Arguably Portsmouth too as we played 3 at the back.
So what u on about play with 4 attackers??
I always think that Allen smothers Grimes's space on the fieldIt’s probably the case the Torp and Eccles might not be 100% ready to play a full 90…
Allen also scored at the weekend so didn’t deserve to be dropped.
That all said, I’m not a huge fan of Allen and Grimes playing together.
they do both like to sit deep, torp is usually much further forward when he playsI always think that Allen smothers Grimes's space on the field
We didn’t turn up rather than them being decent. We’ll smash them at home. There midfield is bang average and none of them gets near our team. Sheaf maybe, if he wasnt made of balsa wood, but he is which is why we punted him.
And I stand by that despite how much you big them up.
Even against Jamie Allen O'brien didn't look great but they did enough last night granted.
If Lampard had bought on an extra midfielder at ht and we still lost he'd be getting stick for the change. Let's not panic most of the other results went for us today. We have won with 4 attackers. That's what I'm on about.
Id rather us with 3 midfielders too but it has worked so the first time it doesn't work isn't really reason to diss lampard is what in saying
I suppose they do have v similar functions and whilst he’s a good stand in, the balance isn’t there imo. Torp works well with Grimes because he’s more creative and carries a significant long shooting threat.I always think that Allen smothers Grimes's space on the field
