Confirmed Signing Aurele Amenda (2 Viewers)

I thought the Thomas / Amenda partnership looked very promising …

I was slightly concerned by how wide they both go when Rushworth has the ball to give Carl options … great if we retain possession but if we lose it our entire penalty box line is wide open …. Teams will exploit that I’m sure.

I think we have our pairing.
Amenda looks the real deal.

We did exactly that last season and quite often Grimes drops into the middle so Rushworth can give it him to ping out to the wing and get the ball moving upfield. None of those guys is sloppy on the ball.

Looked good last night. Only slight criticism would be that he didn’t look wholly comfortable playing the ball on his left foot at times but from a defensive POV very impressive.

Need to see him on the turn against PL quality before really judging. But the profile looks great and there’s reasons to be optimistic he will be excellent

He shrugged their player off the ball like he wasn't even there.

I thought he struggled a bit with the espanyol striker so I'm not sure how he will handle players like Haaland.

Not many people handle haaland in fairness , its one of those players you hope you can minimise more than completely stop

Yeah, our season won't be defined by whether we can stop the likes of Haaland.

Building up his time with us

Oh I just mean that type of player. The Espanyol striker was nowhere near Haaland level but Monaco didn't seem to have that.
I thought that too, but he was only given a half and was probably still a bit behind in sharpness. It's the right profile to be signing for CB in any case

All teams do it if playing out from the back.

Then it will end in giving away a lot of soft goals.
As soon as the ball goes one way, the other comes across and Grimes drops in. It’s not like they are static cones. It’s not just the ball moving the players do too. It’s all about triangles and options.

If the opposition put the press on the ball goes long. Yes you will get caught out occasionally but we won’t get caught that often next season. We have too many players comfortable on the ball in tight spaces who can move it first time, Grimes, Onyeka, Yirenkyi, Rundoni and Dasilva in particular. They have rehearsed patterns.

It's fucking around at the back with a newly promoted team. It invariably ends in ridiculous goals and Cruyff turns in your own 6 yard box.

Any errors are going to be ruthlessly punished.

I don’t think we will get caught out that often. More likely to be punished when we give the ball away higher up the park and get done on the counter.

He looked solid last night, nerves had gone and he played well. Hope its sign of things to come

He definitely scared the shit out the ref at the end of the game when he asked him why his goal was disallowed.

Have you also noticed they're not playing the ball, much, out from the back it's going long from Rushworth.
