We came away from Aston Villa empty-handed after a 1-0 loss. Bad luck, poor management, or just outclassed on the day?

I was at that game. Back then I used to go to most away games and our support was generally poor, as evidenced at VP. Didn’t need a points system back then. Nowadays I struggle to get away tickets which I have no complaints with but it was just nice back in the day to decide on Saturday morning that you were going to the game wherever it was and that you would have no issue getting in.

It wasn't just us that didn't have great away support. In the late 80s I went with my brother (man utd fan) & best mate (nufc fan) to OT and we all paid on the day, I also went to VP to watch Spurs with Gazza & Lineker and paid on the day in the away end. I think it was only after the PL started did I need to get a ticket for a Coventry away game (excluding FA Cup run)
