I do hope they are okay.

I stayed up a couple of hours in case they wanted to talk to someone.

Got in to some good habits towards the end of last year, more for the sake of my physical health than mental, like most people let it go over the last couple of weeks but I tend to resume once I'm back at work Thursday.
However, I just can't get a grip of meditating. Have heard so much about it's benefits but I can't seem to get on with it

Downloaded the HeadSpace app over the holidays and tried the first session yesterday. Got to be honest I’m not feeling it but a mate who meditates said the same as you, you gotta stick with it for a while.

Will keep at it.

Starting to feel the black dog creep back in recently. Let my healthy habits die and that usually brings on the depression. New Year time to start again. Already cut milk and sugar from my coffee which is always my first step.

Great to hear from you. Glad you're feeling a little better.
The offer of a chat will always be there if you're in a hole but you should really speak to a professional mate.
I'm sure you can get through your troubles.

Very happy to listen any time.

Please feel free to vent on here too. Let people know your story. Don't have to go in to too much detail.

Yup. A welcome distraction. Can be anything. Just something to take your mind off and give you a little bit of enjoyment too.

This is probably more beneficial that people realise. I assume that most of us here, have never knowingly met in "real life" so opening up to what are effectively, strangers with no fear of judgement could be used as a real positive platform.

Just read back over these messages.... what a fecking good bunch of blokes and women you lot are. It’s been a real outlet for people who probably wouldn’t open up to people they know.... and I include myself in that group of people. Even though I’ve not posted about my downs.... reading the messages on here has been both helpful and reassuring. Thanks all... and happy new year to the Sky Blue family.

Unfortunately I find that my biggest distractions are more often than not things that eventually make things worse. Eating junk, drinking, staying up all night playing xbox, watching porn etc.

I'm sure that's the same for most people. I find that exercise is my one true outlet for getting rid of anxiety and shitty thoughts but exercise requires will power and pain and I can't be fucked with that recently so I'm just in this limbo of mild darkness hanging over me.

I'll see how far this new years resolution bollocks takes me.

Losing yourself in something creative or learning something new is a great distraction. Doesn’t matter what it is (new language, musical instrument, gardening, pottery etc) there are proven mental health benefits. Of course, if you’ve got someone you trust to talk things through that’s a precious thing. Wish I was local - I would always be happy to meet for a coffee, pint or just a walk and chat.

Keep talking and remember that there are people who care about you.

Diet and exercise are so important.

I always have the same routine to get out of my holes: Cut back on sugar, then eat less carbs, that gives me energy to exercise. Problem is the slightest thing (a cold, a wet day) can fuck my routine up and before I know it I’m eating shit and not moving and the depression and anxiety come back. But each time is a little less before I’m back on the wagon again. Still months, but used to be years.

In all honesty I'm in no way addicted to porn but I'd find myself having a browse every so often if I was bored but I could be doing something productive and I never feel any better for seeking it out and TBH it's hard finding new custard cream fetish videos.
