Are we the worst team to support in England? (1 Viewer)

Things are looking fantastic at the moment no?

For us yes but look at teams like Scarborough, you only have to look at their history to see they've had it bad. Or what about teams like Barnet where the best they can ever realistically hope for is midtable in League 2. At least we know we have a chance of rising higher again.

Hang on - they are much smaller clubs with much lower expectancy.

Answer this - do you go home sad when we lose and happy when we win?? That is how you measure how enjoyable it is.

We are the worst to support in terms of 'happiness'. We have the lowest win percentage of all, and are underachieving for the size of club. No club near our size is beneath us.

It's both embarrassing and depressing supporting Coventry. Most weekends over the last 40-odd years have been ruined by defeat; and we are a laughing stock.

(But you can't change your club, so we're all stuck with it)

Sweet Jesus ... That FA Cup WIN must really suck, years of top flight football , being able to spend millions on international players etc

Right I'm off to the Liverpool message boards to read about how they are the worst team to support as they haven't won anything this season.

Ahhhh, the halcyon days of that Birmingham Senior cup win in 2007.

Well you miserable, negative, moaning Minnie's...just get lost & go fight for you Old Trafford tickets instead.

I recommend you all spend time thinking what benefits you actually get from supporting CCFC then come back & post that instead - & see if you can get a longer list!

Thinking it's depressing but going regardless every week makes somebody a Man U fan now?

I disagree that we the 'worst team to support in England', yes, we haven't had much ups, but, we've been consistent, I bet WBA fans, when they were yo-yoing between D1 and the prem, would've preferred to stay in the prem rather than yo-yo, whereas, CCFC had a 34 year (?) stint in the prem that most FL teams would kill for, we've also had many exhilarating relegation battles and some priceless moments (beating Arsenal 3-0 Boxing Day etc.) so I'd say, we're quite selfish if we're going to feel sorry for ourselves dubbing ourselves 'the worst team to support in England'. Even in the Championship, there were good memories (Wolves 2-1 Westy pen save in the last min, that was my most fond moment as a fan, the sweetest of victories!) which most teams would dream of, your Crawley's, Yeovil's and Brentford's of the world. I have to say, I feel quite privileged to have CCFC as my local team!

... Shame I missed all those premiership moments!

I think you've missed the point with the word 'happy'

No...they are moaning about CCFC & lamenting the general lack of success, & how awful it is supporting them...so they must be happy moaning. Otherwise like I suggested they would go glory hunting to Old Trafford & moan about drawing away at places like Everton & the fact they cannot buy a ticket for certain matches.

I think people have every right be a bit annoyed by our general rubbishness. Best they vent their discontentment on a forum like this rather than kicking the cat I suppose.

Correct. They have the right to choose. They choose to moan. Bit like S&M really...they enjoy the pain too...makes them happy.

Lets face it we are not stong enough for a top 6 finish. The -10 should not detract from the fact we have not been in the top 6 ALL season. We are mid table at best.

Success = larger growds. More money. (We dont have any success)

Winning runs = bring back the "floating fans" (Winning 2 on the bounce is not a winning run, we have not won 5 in a row since 97/98)

Own worst enemy = JPT (Full house, blow it by losing 3-0, the extra fans just gained lost in an instant.)

Losing the next generation = (By not being successful, children would rather support Man Utd, Chelsea etc. Sad but true, not just Coventry all over the country)

We are in a right mess and i dont even want to think about what team we will have next year. Dont forget the following points:

1) Transfer Embargo
2) Administration
3) Question mark over what ground we will be in
4) Using youth team players in the first team, (Look what happend last time we done this, Southampton away.)
5) Players out of contract
6) Academy no place to train

I could go on but CCFC are not providing the citzens of Coventry a competitive team to be proud of.

A lot of that includes time in the top division of course, so it's hard to feel too jealous of a Peterborough.

Bad news here for everyone. It is CLEAR how hard it is being a Coventry City supporter

Try this site out http://stats.football365.co.uk/hist/overall/atwinpct.html
All-Time Statistics
English Leagues from 1888-89 to 2009-10

we are 91st in Winning Percentage Table
Pct
90Carlisle United75 3302 1186 806 1310 4637 4931 3619 45.7%
91Coventry City84 3574 1258 935 1381 4979 5186 3829 45.7%
92York City74 3318 1163 849 1306 4657 4860 3639 45.7%

If success is measured by win % relative to the population size of a single-club town or city, then we are indisputably the least successful of any club in a city of comparable size and expectation. This season, despite being royally bum-fucked by SISU/ACL/CCC, it still feels like our most successful for years playing-wise, despite being in League 1, simply because we have won more games.
