SISU buy the club
SISU decide to go for promotion over activating their right to buy ACL. The plan fails.
After plan A fails SISU go on a cost saving exercise that ultimately leads to relegation and lower crowds.
SISU attempt to negotiate a lower rent deal and buy half of ACL.
During these periods of negotiation they withhold rent.
They shake on a rent deal then back track.
They move the football club 35 miles away.
A high court judge accuses them of attempting to distress the company they are buying.
They take legal action against one half of the people they need to do business with in order to buy ACL.
They keep going with their legal action despite twice getting told its not worth it.
They repeatedly say they do not want to buy ACL. That they are building their own stadium.
When they return to the Ricoh it is a short term deal as they are going to build a new stadium.

Wasps approach the council and agree to buy all of ACL. They agree the football club can use the Ricoh as much as they want and will have primacy on matches.
Coventry Rugby club say they will not raise an objection to wasps coming.
Wasps say they will develop the surrounding area that SISU said they wouldn't.

I want CCFC owning the Ricoh. I want CCFC to be getting all those revenues.

However I can't fathom out for a second why some on here can't understand that there is only one reason that has not happened.

SISU did not do what wasps have. If they did we would own ACL.

If you want to have a moan do it to SISU not the council.

That would have still been the move I would have made if I was Haskell.
I personally wouldn't have wanted it to happen, but if if he wanted the set up wasps have just got and had the money to invest in players he could have made a killing

Do you seriously think our owners come out of this looking like they have been hard done by and the council have done wrong?

Read the OP and try and justify any other view

Aren't you pissed off that the Ricoh was offered to Wasps rather than Nuneaton?

Well it would make more sense than offering it to the people who repeatedly state that they aren't interested...

Far more so than our owners I am afraid yes.
I can't see that the council have done anything wrong.
The council havnt done anything wrong, they sold a business that was there to be sold, business is business.
Fuck the locals, fuck the history, fuck the City, they screwed over the two biggest sporting clubs in the City, they have done permanently to the Wasps what they where crying about being done to us last year.
Only people happy with this clusterfuck are the accountants and the local living Wasps fans, how anyone else could be happy with this IDK.

British sport and British sporting traditions are being ripped appart slowly and surely and CCC have just dealt a huge blow to all that was and is ours.

Who's saying our owners have been hard done by? They've got to take a large portion of blame for this. But owners come and go. Our club have been hard done by, our fans have been hard done by, CRFC have been hard done by, wasps fans have been hard done by.

Do you think helping a club move 82 miles from its fan base is doing no wrong? If you think that any side comes out of this without blame then it shows how blinkered you really are.

We have lost the chance to ever own the Ricoh/leasehold, but still you're proud.

So you approve of the council in their guise as ACL rejecting the CVA which caused us to lose 10 points, in doing so claiming 'they were acting in the best interests of the club'
You approve of the club being charged in excess of £1m per year and having absolutely no access to revenue streams - all long before SISU arrived
You approve of the council selling the home of CCFC (which they did contribute to in fairness) without consultation, or regard for the fans - their stakeholders amongst them.
You approve of the council selling out to a 'franchise team' despite their repeated criticism of the club for moving the club to Northampton
You approve of a sale that in essence is less than what SISU offered in their joint failed negotiations
You approve of the council betraying the football club that has been here since the late 1800's

Wow... you must be so proud.

Sad really, take the loan out of the equation and we have paid more in rent to ACL than has cost wasps to buy it....

What part of SISU saying "we don't want to buy ACL we are building our own stadium" do you not understand.

CCFC can play at the Ricoh as long as they like. SISU choose to not buy the Ricoh.

If it was the council that were the problem then how did Wasps manage to do business with them so seamlessly.

If the deal on the table wasn't a good one that is not workable. Why does the wasps owner think it has made them the richest revenue club in rugby over night.

Tell you what I am proud of and thats the dignified stance of Cov because this must be really hurting. I wont go and watch Wasps however will support Cov when I can.

I don't think anyone that is criticising the council has ever said that SISU were blameless. Trying to blame the owners because the council sold out it's own city.

Get voted in by pretending you are friends of the genuine working man.............and then utterly shit on the working class communities at every opportunity whilst concentrating on personal gain and fame. What do you expect him to say?

They barely get 7000 now where they are.. if the fans boycott anything like as effectively as ours did then they'll be lucky to get 4000 a game. They are not even in Europe this season.

They won't even become the richest revenue club in the Midlands.

He must be on whatever Lucas is on.

Wasps fans have been shafted by their owners and the RFU correct. Like with our move I did not blame Northampton FC I blamed our owners and the FL. More so the FL. The council cannot be blamed for that.

We have not been done over by the council we still get to play at the Ricoh it has been since day one. Our owners stated they did not want to buy ACL so no change there for us.

We rented at the Ricoh from the beginning so no change there.

We threw away the chance to own the lease that I am gutted about but I know who to blame

SISU and their appalling antics created the atmosphere of resentment that led to this decision. I'm not defending the council on this at all, I'm disgusted that they couldn't put the SISU war aside to do what's right for Coventry the City !

You could of course blame the owners 100% for giving the council the opportunity to sell it to Wasps....

They are terrible. Reasonable and decent ideas on occasions with the worst execution I have ever seen.

You can't dispute the notion that the club has to be self-sufficient, or that the clubs should own (or control at the very least) it's own stadium.
The way they have tried to do it was ridiculous.

The council are just as fucking bad.... they pretend to care about us then stab us in the back.

The council CHOSE to sell to Wasps. They didn't have to did they.. unless everything they portrayed about ACL was a lie.

It was a perfectly successful business we were told.. which had just managed to get it's anchor tenant back. They should have built the relationship back up with the club and gone from there.

Wasps make the offer it did. However the council turn it down on the off chance SISU in the future change their mind. Wasps go elsewhere.
SISU go and build their new stadium. In a different region.
ACL cannot find a new buyer and the charity miss out on getting 2.77 million to go to good causes.

The Ricoh continues to be used for an exhibition centre and the odd concert.

The city misses out on the revenue, investment, employment and profile that would have came with wasps.

I think you need to have the capacity to think a little bit further than just from your CCFC tinted glasses are taking you

That is the reality of the decision the councillors were faced with.

Even a hint from our owners when we came back that bridges were getting built and buying ACL was a possibility. Then I would give your points some merit however that was not the case.

If SISU had bought it (And they have had many opportunities to do so), they wouldn't have been able to sell it to Wasps would they?

Lets assume for 1 second that we had never had the rental strike, the club leaving, the legal cases etc - and SISU were happy to pay the rent and the deal in place, and plod along nicely.

No money for 'the charity' - no revenue, investment, and all the other spurious reasons you gave just now

Would this course of action occurred.... not in a heartbeat.

It's not about the difficult decision the Councillors faced... it's about the choice they made to betray the city.

Anyway, the Tory members voted the deal through too so it clearly isn't a party issue.
