Change the manager is the ultimate conclusion I think.

He can but he has no answer to their issues, always easier to focus on the fringe element.

Would say the likes of yourself, Houchen's, Mustard, Macca etc. also try and be constructive and rational in your arguments against the manager. That's the way it should be. You will always get the odd 'Fuck off you're shit' comments. That is life.

By the same token you also get people saying that Thorn is a great manager and someone actually said the best manager we have had for many a year.

See no problem whatsoever with constructive criticism and on the whole, that is what we have.

There will always be morons. I recall when Leon Best played for us and he was getting some stick. One game he went down injured at the Ricoh and the bloke in front of me stood up and shouted, "Good, I hope it's serious."

He could change the formation and tactic we are playing not just substitutions. Against Leeds and boro the ball to Platt so he could link up with Nimely worked, against Forest it didn't so that needs to be changed.

If he couldn't make changes, why did he do it at 2-0? At 1-0 we were still in it, even if he brought Eastwood on (like he did) and put him and McSheff up front just to pile the pressure on. We NEED to get points, if we are 1-0 down we NEED to go for it and show some bottle, if we lose 3-0 because of it then at least as tried but if we had done it after the first goal then there would have been a much better chance of us getting something out of it.

I have always been constructive with why I THINK what I do (note, an opinion) but I have noticed a lot more and more people are starting to see that Thorn doesn't really know what he is doing as a manager, as a scout he has done a good job with some of his finds.

See, another thing that makes you all unreasonable is that usually when they criticise a manager It's because they feel he's not picking players that he should be - or he's not playing the right formation.

There's none of that here because everyone knows we have nobody on the bench and the formation suits the players at our disposal.

You're looking for a scapegoat and you've chosen the wrong one.

Channel your aggression towards SISU as that actually makes sense.

in the end it doesn't make much differants whether your input to this forum is a full in depth view of our season..or just a word here and there..it is JUST a forum...your entitled to your views, but so is everybody else..whether your a thorn lover or not..at the end of the day....what we say...makes no differance at all..

See this is the other side of the coin in the moronic comments, Rich. Can you not see that. Tarring everyone with the same brush and making sweepinly generalised comments?

'another thing that makes you all unreasonable '

We are all unreasonable? All of us? No criticism of Thorn justified?

The formation obviously doesn't work ALL of the time, look at how many games we have lost? What happens when the formation works well and gets us into the lead, then the other manager makes a change which then counteracts are formation so they can either over run the midfield or do us on the wings. Surely it should be changed then?

Can you think of many great managerial things AT has done during a game to help us get points? Look at opposing managers and how many have made changes which have won them the game against us, can you think of as many that AT has done?

I would say that of course we don't have investment so we won't have a squad of players like West Ham, but is it really SISU's fault we give away leads and can't win away from home? It is not like other teams have a set of players for home games and a set of players for away games is it? We are playing the same 11 players with out same 11 most of the time so what is the problem?

I'd say that with these kids and players other teams aren't exactly fighting to sign it's a winner we have so many points.

I think the diamond formation has helped significantly. If we matched teams with a 4-4-2 every week we'd get spanked due to our weaker squad.

Can you explain any changes he has made mid game that have helped us?

Can you explain why if we are so poor do we get in front but then fail to react to the other team's changes?

It's all sisus fault will I predict be the answer interspersed with some foul mouthed drivel.

The thing is, people who are questioning Thorn (apart from the cocks just saying that he is fat etc) are asking questions and making points but then nobody seems to come back with anything constructive other than it is SISU's fault and Thorn has his hands tied.

Ha! One poster? If it was only one numbskull - hi Valiant - then fair enough, but its not.

I have no problem with people having a go at Thorn at al, I just dont like the abuse from quite a few posters on here. Its OTT.

kduffy said:
This is unfair. 90% of people present reasoned arguments. Your preference to dwell on one poster on this thread leads me to conclude you have no answers to the other 90%.

The team has not won away all season. Thorn as a manager has won one game since last march on his travels. This will mean relegation. Relegation needs to be avoided. A natural conclusion for some is to question the managerial ability of thorn. Tell me why is that offensive?

Long time reader; first time poster here.

Got to say I feel sorry for Thorn. He's been on a hiding to nothing since the beginning of season; no money, no backing, boardroom upheaval, etc. But his comments after yesterday's disaster are those of a man who is either deluded or has lost his way.

I admire his loyalty and apparent tenacity, but he's doing no-one any favours least of all himself. Nice guy in a no-win situation who really needs to either go of his own accord or be put out of his misery.

As I said after the Leeds game, just wait for the next defeat and AT will be shit again. Most have gone on about fat freddie being unfit and uninterested. Should be sacked. Now AT should have brought him on earlier. Is this because he is the only striker he could have brought on?

Any answer to any of the questions? What made AT so good against Leeds? What decisions did he make that really changed the way the game panned out?

One that I have repeatedly said is quality of squad and players on the bench. Our playets are knackered at the end of games through effort put in. Forest are having a bad season like us, but how many of their players they had on their bench would get to start for us? Then how many of our squad would be good enough to even get on their bench? They also have an experienced manager, so them doing as bad as us with better players shows us it is not just down to AT.

This is just my opinion, and I suppose I am deluded again.

Another post aimed at diverting away from the issues. No one is bothered about one game whatever the result. It's losing every away game, inconsistent performances, dithering on the touchline. Ultimately it's the specter of relegation which is becoming more real day by day.

I never said he was good against Leeds. He never got a well done off me either. I did say though why didn't he get shouted down and called a shit manager as he made no subs, and also asked the question if others would have done it if it was Leeds that got the late winner and not us.

And this has been a fact against most teams. I would more ask the question how do we manage to beat teams or at least compete with them when their players are better than ours. Our players are running themselves into the ground for AT. This would not be a problem as much if we had a little quality to come off the bench

In any other time in CCFC history would AT still be manager,,,, answer is NO its down to finance pure and simple as his win ratio is the worst we have had... Its no good picking an odd result and making remarks on this you have to look at the big picture and what patterns are happening if any... ie goals conceded, games lost from winning positions, goals scored from set pieces,, eg, eg.. That is were a manager can judge and change or work on to improve,,, So the next question is have we improved after the first 10 or so games answer NO, so although i understand the no change thoery results say different...

We have done the best on the last 10 games than any other 10. Still not good enough though.

Ah though I hear you say. An experienced manager would do better. So why are Forest near the bottom with their squad?
