I don’t mind you or villa I don’t mind you having billionaire owners what I do mind is who your owners are. There may come a day where 75% of the premier league clubs are owned by Americans and they come from a country which does not understand promotion/relegation. Perhaps they will use rugby as an example no promotion for next 3 years unless they somehow find an excuse to let Worcester up. Also your owners have already said they want a franchise rugby club there words not mine. The Rugby Union are already destroying rugby in this country and I feel we are sleepwalking into destroying football below the premier league. We all love the old grounds don’t we? I used to love the old Highfield Road which was one of my first away trips in the early 70s. Yes I’m that old!
The new stadium is needed if the club want to progress. St Andrews, although in the best state it’s ever been is in a horrible area now whereas the new one will be nearer the city centre and in the middle of a modern sports quarter. Knighthead are literally developing a modern state of the art addition to the city centre similar to resorts world by the NEC. It will benefit the city as a whole and create tons of jobs and opportunities.
The design of any ground is always subjective. It’s different which is good but the chimneys take some getting used to but new ideas always do. The fact that our rivals will be able to see it from their ground amuses me. The 62,000 capacity is aimed at other events but we can and will get bigger crowds. We can all remember going to the likes of West Ham, Spurs and Newcastle when they had sub 20,000 gate.
I welcome it and after a sad list of chancer owners the current ones are the type we used to dream about. Genuine and loaded
