I also remember going away to morcambe that year and being jealous that they actually owned their stadium and had a club shop instead of tables in the concourse

I went to big local derby last season against Ramsbottom.

Don’t know if this was the season, but I can remember the ticket “office” being run from a trestle table at the Butts Arena. Did I make this up?

No I am pretty sure our ticket office was based at The Butts until Lockdown

By the time they were obviously required again we’d moved back home

Wasn't the "club shop" a barrow in Tesco's for a while?

Seems like it was only yesterday.
Awful owners, 'leading' us to our lowest point - they were lucky to get Robins back, and for him (and Adi) to then perform miracles.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Amazing that we're now doing so well, and we own our stadium...a notion we could never have dreamed of back then.

Before the ticket office in the butts bar, it was at some office block around Foleshill area. Remember waiting in the corridor for tickets

Madness, feels like a completely different time.

Those were the days when going to game was an absolute chore and it was purely out of routine. Zero or toxic atmosphere, shit concourse with about 50 people in it. Horrendous players, who at times clearly don’t want to be there.

Robins completely transformed the club.

And now Lampard will finish the job.

Absolutely different world.

NOPM seems so long ago.

I've still spent skint all these years.
Club is lucky I forget to turn off my iFollow annual subscription every year, so I wake up to a nice "fuck you JohnWH" out the blue once a year. No I don't check emails.

I think the most soul destroying memory was the ‘SISU’ are launching another court case headlines. Lost years , appalling times, most football fans thankfully have never had to endure but should give all Sky Blues a perspective.

An absolute car crash of a season from minute one...

Mowbray's pissing around in the summer set the tone

Slade's appointment was an absolute disaster and if we hadn't have bothered with it. or even after a few weeks realised he was in way above his head and got Robins back we may well have stayed up

Venus was probably the most dislikeable man I have ever seen in our dugout

Some of the worst players I have ever seen pull on our shirt (Which that season also happened to be our worst ever shirt!!)

The most toxic I have ever seen CCFC, even more so than when we were at Sixfields in my opinion

At least the Checkatrade provided some light relief, but even with that in consideration I cannot look back on that era with much fondness whatsoever

Thank god for Mark Robins, when the emotion of his sacking has subsided and he has left Stoke, I sincerely hope he is invited back to unveil the Mark Robins Lounge at the stadium we now finally own, he stopped the rot when we had genuinely no hope and built everything we are enjoying today - Forever grateful
He deserves a Statue, he didnt just rebuild our club, he rebuilt our city rejuvenated life back into it and the football, gave us all hope. Honestly that man should get free pints anywhere he goes within or near a CV postcode. If it wasnt for Mark, I dread to think what would have happened to our football club would it even be alive anymore? Anyways in the spirit of growth over a decade Leicester have gone from defending PL champions to below us in the Championship and with a Pt deduction looming potential relegation candidates whilst we have gone from doomed to almost the top, a proper rebirth, the phoenix risen from the ashes spear headed by Robins, but torch passed to Frank to light the fire. May the future always be Sky Blue and let the good times Roll, PUSB!

The Butts was an upgrade. The original office was at the old Courtaulds site on Lockhurst Lane. All part of the Tim Fisher master plan.

The Club shop on Gallagher crammed in next to Maplin Electronics was the worst

Admittedly the last time I popped down to Gallagher was a good couple of years ago - but the unit that the club used hadn't been touched since CCFC moved out of it when I last went

Tables in the concourse with 6,000 fans knocking around the Ricoh with relegation inevitable to L2 - the darkest of times. Some on here should remember that when they are going mental during current transfer windows if we miss out on targets. Perspective.

That’s not the University of Stirling btw but a collective of agencies that partner schools, colleges and overseas universities (actually 2 in Iraq). It’s not a HEI but a private institution.

At least that one was near the ground Unless you fancied a trip to Gallagher you couldn't buy any merchandise on a home matchday once upon a time

I remember the Gallagher one was burgled when we released a new kit one season... What a club we once were

Yeh, interestingly, I saw loads of away games over that season and the League 2 season, now I can’t get into away games unless I’m in the home end. Some of the really depressing moments were when some of our ‘fans’ were verbally abusing our players (thinking Rochdale/Crewe away in particular) Really embarrassin.

What was the highlight of 16/17 league season? For me it was our boy knocked down their boy at the Sheffield United game. If the Playing home games in Northampton and Wasps buying the stadium was the nadir for our club then 16/17 was the lowest ebb for the team.

Same, came along in 88 so never saw the FA cup victory.
Felt like we'd never appear at Wembley & were on the downslide into non-league. If you'd have told me how many times we'd appear since and how close to the PL we are, I'd have asked what you were drinking.

---
The season we were relegated to L2, was a turning point in my life. I contracted Bell's Palsy (so all the wembley pictures, I look like I'm miserable (I'm fine now made a full recovery)), moved further north and changed jobs.
Feels alot longer than 9 years ago.

Na-some of them deserved it. Not sure if it was the same season when we played Northampton which was their home game and they humiliated us 3-0. Lots of crowd interruptions and Pyro’s etc but a totally spineless performance where lots of individual players were hiding and not bothered. The angriest I’ve ever been at a football match

The team was full of young lads who were simply not up to the grade supplemented by older players and loanees who were genuinely not fit to wear the shirt and deserved all the flack they got

There were only three players in that squad for me with any real quality - Jones and Willis, who played their part in L2 and the return to L1

And Marvin Sordell - Who was actually quite good, and for whatever reason despite him probably being the best player in the side, Slade decided to give away to Burton Albion for absolutely nothing in part exchange for Stuart Beavon

Probably Ben Stevenson’s goal against Oxford. One of extremely few moments of quality.

The League 2 away games were great, especially the flares and the mini pitch invasions after we scored.

I think you must've underestimated how toxic the whole place was at that time - we were at our lowest ebb and the atmosphere of a club transfers to the pitch in a big way. The squad was wading upstream against the general negativity of the place. Playing in a half empty stadium with angry fans (sometimes literally on the pitch shouting at players) - it was tough times and I think they did amazing to keep going and get us back up first time, however it happened.

Just logged back in here for the first time in many years when I saw this thread.

I think that it was around then that I started to check-out as a Cov fan. I still check the score and watch occasional games but losing my Dad (only Cov fan I knew) and then the shit-show of that period meant a lot of that passion for the club disappeared.

My timeline is all over the place but around this point was the game away at Crewe: probably the worst game of football I'd ever experienced. Shaw was in charge and 'toxic' is exactly the word. Much worse than the end of the Strachan era which did get nasty. That Crewe game was just awful (did Kilbane threaten a fan and then retire?) I thought relegation would just be followed by more.

Didn't think anything good would come of it. In fact, another poster mentioned how we thought we'd romp the Championship when we went down. I think we all did. I remember the first game away at Stockport, the atmosphere was fantastic but it was bit of a wake-up call.

So happy (from afar) to see what's happening this season. Especially as my Dad also brought me up a Hearts fan. What a season.

The handful of times it was half full the atmosphere was ok. Sometimes it was barely a FIFTH full!

That Crewe game was a shocker. 2012-13 ! Kilbane told a fan to F off but he had been singled out for dog’s abuse the entire match (after scoring a brilliant goal vs Bham in the fizzy pop cup only a few days before). I wonder how most of us would react to being harangued like that during our job. He apologised officially but that was it for him - and pretty much for Dickie Shaw too.
