This just flies in the face of everything else being said.
It shows commitment for the long term, shows we have some money we are prepared to toss around when needed (though I suspect it's not large compensation) Yes they have to get a manager but we have one in place who has been reasonably impressive who could have completed the season? After all unless Pressley is looking to get us up still what was the point of change at this late hour when the choices available in the close season would be dramatically increased?

SISU have chosen what they want again and if they have done it well like last time maybe they get another pat on the back in all of this.

Just can't help thinking though that Robin's left for a bit more money but primarily as he said "did not get the guarantees he was looking for" when he sat with Fisher and Waggott before deciding his move?

Is Pressley not interested in any guarantee of the future of the club short term?

Or have some guarantees been given yet strangely not given to Robin's?
Or for that matter the minimum guarantee Robin's knew he needed (future funding etc) is not the same as Pressley's thinking? That's a worry.

But if your intention is to bring through the youth squad then I can understand it more

As a caveate to that my hope then is we get promoted this year because we won't get out this league blooding the youth too much?

That's my only concern as I don't think Pressley has done enough to opinonate over yet.

The next few games are vital to the playoffs...can't really afford to lose them. SISU are backing a man for league 1 next year and using the youth players more, helping to comply with fair Play rules and avaoiding any more hard cash injections for transfers etc.

Hmmm interesting as this is the sort of risk that can go badly wrong. Pressley has no room for mistakes and niether do SISU.

Agree with what you say Paxman. The thing that gives me a little confidence is that Waggott was involved.......... seems to be a knowledgeable football guy to me.

Have you ever thought that we might have to offer long term deals to attract anybody? Especially with our penchant for sacking managers.

Well thats not surprising, football management is a pretty high risk venture.. I just hope he can keep the play-off push going..

No one has really answered Paxman's questions.

Long term planning by Sisu flies in the face of us going out of business this season or that Sisu are going to pull funding soon. Surely this changes ACL/CCC/Alan Higgs thoughts on Sisu's commitment to the club for the long term and does it change their opinion to negotiations? I don't know - I doubt it given the comments of my CCC friend.

Pressley was offered assurances that Robins wasn't - Possibly but unlikely. Think Pressley more aware of his role of coaching the best out of his players than Robins and maybe Robins didn't have the patience to wait for an opportunity at a higher level.

Pressley taking a risk - Course but life is a risk and the benefits to him of making a good go of the end of this season and early part of next season is a stepping stone to a top Championship side.

I am very puzzled by Sisu's ability to tempt a reasonably enthusiastic manager to sign up for 3 and a half years. More simple to talk Carsley/Oggy into carrying on.

Not beyond the realms of possibility for him to have a 10 game honeymoon period and make play offs -------------------------------------------- can't do any worse at home than the last 4 home games can he?
