Of course Doug wants a leaner squad. He wants the money spent on top players, not swathes of also rans who never play.

But it's probably too thin now when injuries kick in. They know this, which is why they would have bought Hughes and Rak Sakyi
Have I missed something… We wanted to sign Hughes AND Wolfenden?! It wasn’t an either/or situation?

Rak-Sakyi for a permanent makes sense and hopefully something we can revisit. Would be a top signing.

There’s a balance between recognising the club were obviously trying to do something and sounding off just because there weren’t endless signings. You also don’t seem to value the retention of all of our best players. You can have a good window with zero signings.

I mean we literally sold our captain.

And you and your sidekick are such lovely people
it’s just funny that you and the other 2, who worship King were telling us it was such a great window and the squads in a great place.

now bling has come out and said the squad isn’t padded out as he’d like you don’t comment on it at all. makes you look very foolish

Our captain who was no longer a first team regular and who we managed to get Wrexham to overpay for?

We are a bit light in depth in midfield but I'm happy we kept all the first XI players.
People are really reaching on this sold our captain rubbish. Sheaf was far from one of our crown jewels and we got a price we'd have been beyond stupid to turn down given his injury issues.

still, it was too good a price to turn down but looks a bit ridiculous not to replace him
It's not ideal but if someone offers you that for someone who has been either crocked or not very good for some time, you take it.
I'm more annoyed we didn't sort out something in the forward positions. Can kind of understand if they wanted to press on a better CM target in Jan. Here's hoping that they have something ready to go.

Wrong again. I welcome you to find the post where I've stated that it's been a good window. Honestly Sparkes can you just not do your homework properly instead of trotting out lies ? Makes you look very foolish .

On first point, Jimmy stated the plan was to bring in two quality CBs to challenge Thomas and Kitching while shifting out Lati and Binks.

I think Hughes and Woolf were meant to be the two to come in but he wasn’t sure if the plan changed when Lati came back injured

I think my personal annoyance with the window, is that we never said no when we couldn’t get a replacement on the last day.

I honestly don’t mind Sheaf going and the amount was decent when you consider where he was but not holding firm until we got a replacement or likewise letting Rapha go when we knew Rak-Sai wasn’t coming seems very naive imo

No one would have paid that in January. We had to take the cash. We’re in September. We can recruit again in just over 3 months. It’s a risk that had to be taken.

Personally I thought it was an outstanding window. I don’t care if King didn’t.

Sorry to ask but why did we have to take it now? Not a dig just don’t get it.

We had a year option (or he just signed a new contract according to saddle). It’s a huge risk as if we get to January and we are still going well, amazing but if we have two injuries to Eccles and Torp, I think we will struggle to be as high as we currently are.

Just seems self inflicted and as we found out with Rak Sai, other teams capable of turning down large fees due to concerns with depth

SERIOUS COPE!!!
It’s honestly pathetic. He was saying before Sheaf was sold that he should be starting ahead of Torp. We then sold Sheaf and didn’t replace him yet the transfer window is now considered outstanding. He doesn’t make any sense. If bling shagged his Mrs he’d probably congratulate him

Upon reflection, I’m not fussed about letting either player leave without bringing in replacements.

Starting with Rapha, it’s apparent that Lampard doesn’t actually trust him to come off the bench to change a game at our level. He’s only been willing to sub him on when we’re winning by a clear margin. If Rapha can cut his teeth in L1 and do well, he’ll be of more use to us next season than being a bit part player.

As for Sheaf, the fee was right and between his injuries of late, his contract situation, Torp’s form and Grimes establishing a leadership role, it makes sense to cash in from a Wrexham side that probably panicked a bit. At his best, he’s a top end Championship CM but hasn’t been at that level since 23/24. 5 CMs for 2 CM spots is too much and it’s an area where the quality is good, Allen is the weakest but his niche is filling in where required. In any case, those 4 will get us to Jan comfortably and where we can reevaluate things.

The big crime this summer was not signing wingers good enough to play.

Sheaf featured prominently in the pre season and was looking almost back to his best which leads me to believe the transfer fee offered was an unexpected opportunity that was just too good to turn down.

I think the current situation could be better, we are in my opinion a signing short of adequate squad depth so we have to hope we can get by till January.

My concern is the depth on the wing. I find it bonkers that people are happy with having to play Brau on the wing for example if there’s an injury.

It’s idiotic that we decided Rak-Sakyi was the man but only at 11th hour on deadline day.
We had all summer to do that deal and spent it pissing about.

It seems to me we zeroed in on certain players and let ourselves get messed around instead of moving on several acceptable targets. It has left us short.

Spent a lot of time in preseason arguing that was the highest priority position… it took to the end of August to prove just how light we are.

The one good thing about signing Wolfenden is that with 4 CBs + Bidwell, 5-3-2 is a viable option if we run out of wingers.

We may have wanted him for weeks for all you know. But palace wanted to bide then time before making a decision

Fans need to stop acting like it's a simply black and white situation all the time. So much information and detail that we are not privvy too.
