We were bidding £10m on Charlie Hughes. Money wasn't an issue. For top 2? Yes
For top 6? Potentially?
How much money can we lose each year before it’s unsustainable?

I wonder if it didn’t help that Norm is looking like a bad investment. King stated himself he needs assets to develop and sell on.We were bidding £10m on Charlie Hughes. Money wasn't an issue.
I hear you. I only use X to keep up to date on sports news but it seems to be awash with these faceless accounts fronting as ITK's or experts to gain some clout. As bad as ours are, it's crazy the amount of them you see for the big 6 clubsIt's not even people like Turner or Romano it's people who, for some reason, make out like they know something and think it's cool to say "my sources" it does my head in, they know what we know in regards to what's happening behind the scenes... Absolutely fuck all.
Alot of them are on this forum hiding In the background see what's writen then go post it on X like they've been told directly from Doug, it's so stupid like sometimes I'll scroll through looking at football news see a tweet from a fan saying "my sources", I just think, " fuck off you dickhead" then log out
i get the feeling this is not as clear cut as it seems. I'm happy there is money available, but i get the feeling its not a case of reallocating it if it doesn't come off.We were bidding £10m on Charlie Hughes. Money wasn't an issue.
Well after a long summer transfer window now closed there's one good thing.... No more absolute helmets pretending they are ITK, seen so many write:
"my sources tell me...."
Or
""
Seen one who put "my sources tell me..." then proceeded to tag people like Romano and others, so your seeing his tweets and copying it? Fans on X annoy me, I'll see tweets by fans and shake my head
They are just everywhere, thank god the transfer window is closed and they can't share their inside knowledge untill JanI hear you. I hear you and your probably right but these insiders just copy and past what he says like they've been told by the club directly, it's abit embarrassing to be honest, and the posters lap it up, most of them go "what you hearing now mate?"I don't think Romano is even that reliable tbh. Seems his main job is just getting info directly from player agents when they want to generate interest for their clients

I don't even know why it bothers me so much, probably think it's just embarrassing to be honest mate, the sad ones are those that make several accounts talking utter shiteIt didnt help that random people would say stuff was brewing then people on here acting like they are insiders.
Were we though? One person's question "how much would it take to persuade you on xxx" suddenly becomes a firm offer on the gossip boards. I don't think they were anywhere close to smashing the club transfer record on an unproven CH. King just doesn't have that money to risk. His strategy hasn't changed it's 3 top 6 finishes in 5 years and hope that might be enough. We were bidding £10m on Charlie Hughes. Money wasn't an issue.
I love how our bid on Hughes during the window was "Why are you worried,we will sign players we have the money, we bid £10m on Hughes"We we though? If we’d been offered to be in this situation at the start of the summer there’s no way anyone would have said no.
But many posters on here can't moan about state of football today considering they feel they were owed something on deadline day. He's a modern day Simon Cowell and everything that is wrong with football.
I've been consistent throughout. I don't believe we "bid" for Rushworth either when we found out they wanted £5+m.I love how our bid on Hughes during the window was "Why are you worried,we will sign players we have the money, we bid £10m on Hughes"
and when we dont sign anyone and the window closes its
"How do you know we actually bid? It might have just been a question to them"
That was my other thought. Woolfenden began weeks ago, now it seems that he’s doing the final tidying, slimming the club down ready to sellI really think this will be the last season with King.
He's finally united the Stadium and the club which will strengthen his investment and resale value.
Hes limited his investment in assets that have a greater chance to depreciate quickly in players.
I think his CBO will be sourcing a buyer throughout this year.
He now has the stadium, a decent manager and infrastructure, a small but neat squad. He is certainly pruning it into a nice package to sell to somebody. That was my other thought. Woolfenden began weeks ago, now it seems that he’s doing the final tidying, slimming the club down ready to sell
I thought about this when we bought the stadium. The ground loses money, ultimately it’s an asset for the total package. Doesn’t make sense to buy it until the last possible moment - is it potential the 15m was a deposit of sorts, most takeovers require such a depositHe now has the stadium, a decent manager and infrastructure, a small but neat squad. I also meant owning the stadium, which pretty much seems to have been forgotten. This is exactly it.
We've held on to our main players and signed a few, whilst having a very successful offload of those that are largely surplus to requirements. It's a window we all would have taken at the start.
The problem is the way they've handled it at the end, and the deflated feeling that it has left. It's come across, to me at least, as a bit lazy.
I still think we have a great squad, and believe we can be competitive for a playoff place this season, but a couple more in would have been nice.

Possibly - but it’s a big asset to invest in and as we’ve seen, needs some maintenance investment.Ground has lost money but I'm sure part of that is because it's been run by people who don't know how to run it (the council), don't have the funds to run it properly (a rugby club) or aren't too bothered about running it well (Frasers).
Doug and the club will need to make money from it. They'll put more effort into making it a place people want to host events and concerts.
I think it's a mixture of managing the wage bill and getting the necessary playing time for the young players. King will sell at some point but I don't think it's in his immediate plans (unless he got a silly offer perhaps). The new players are still getting extended contracts for example. That was my other thought. Assuming we go up is a silly assumption to make when holding an investment. We could be in the same position in 10 years time.Maybe. But what has he said or done to imply that he is in it for a quick turnaround and profit? He has never taken the short-term route. And if that really is his intention, then investing in a football team is not the most reliable way to make money.
But assuming that is his goal, surely the year we go up is when the big money appears. The stadium is only a stepping stone.

Think it’s more when Doug first came in - everything appeared to be in a 5 year period - the rental agreement, the contracts play offs in 3/5 years.Maybe. Our only player now that’s gonna have a contract expiry is Jamie Allen. Which wont be a big financial loss.I think it's a mixture of managing the wage bill and getting the necessary playing time for the young players. I think the club was valued at around £150m even before the stadium deal.what he has done is tidied the club up, wiped the debts and paired it with its home. The club now has gone from worthless to possibly worth over 100m in 1 night.

Yes. This is a big season for the club or we're into another rebuild I think with Rudi MVE and Haji probably all moving onOur only player now that’s gonna have a contract expiry is Jamie Allen. Which wont be a big financial loss.
next year will be first raft of big name players. The contracts are going to go up sharply
Based on the 15m for 10% of shares? We don’t know where that money come fromI think the club was valued at around £150m even before the stadium deal.
Yes a club without a stadium wouldnt be valued to a buyer at £150m, half of that if lucky.Based on the 15m for 10% of shares? We don’t know where that money come from
