Time to put these in their place like we did with the Swansea lot still seething about Grimes.

No player should expect to get into a good side that's flying especially just after moving to the club. Then it's down to who is playing the best and who is most suited to the opponents.

Nothing wrong with a bit of squad rotation either.

King isn't going to do anything to put the club in trouble. If we buy him it will be a price the club is comfortable with so don't worry about it. Why develop someone else's player instead?

I’m still unsure 12m if we have that money is best spent on a cb who is 21 years old. I get the investment side but it’s a big outlay for a young cb from Hull.
I back whatever they deem fit and Doug has completely earned my trust but seems a bit wild to smash our club record fee on a young cb.

I think the business case for each player is likely to be different so it probably doesn't work that way.

That’s fine, but I just don’t think the player is worth that value. As others have said, I would rather invest in two players with that money who we can develop with good coaching. We’re not a poor club, but let’s not pretend we’re Birmingham, Wrexham or a parachute club.

I get the impression King uses external investment to sign players. So there isn’t £12m available but outside contributors are happy to spend it on Hughes so they can turn a profit on that specific player.

If that deal falls through, that money isn’t then available to use elsewhere. See the Rushworth deal and the deal for that midfielder who went to Benfica as examples.

King seems to hint at this whenever he talks transfers too
