Oh of course, if we pass the deadline with the squad as is I'll be pretty disappointed and more to the point so will the manager. I will still hold fire on predictions of a relegation battle until at least then though.
Nobody is predicting a relegation battle, lets not be ridiculous

It is concerning that we still only have 3 recognised CB's on our books but we have no idea what efforts have been/are being made to address the situation. We also only have media coverage to indicate what bids have made and those certainly need to be taken with a pinch of salt. There's little point in just paying over the odds to patch up the problem. As we've seen many times before that just leads to trouble.

Surely at this point of the window we will be paying an inflated fee foranyone?

Whats the solution? Wait until January?

I'd go as far as to argue that attacking midfield is where we have the most quality. An upgrade on Sheaf and/or Eccles however, yes please.

Depends how you see the non Grimes and Rudi role I guess. If you, like me, see Sheaf and Eccles more as Grimes type defensive mids and Torp as someone more creative and a goal threat as an 8 in don’t think we’ve got any backup for him and he’s the only backup for Rudi. Otherwise you’re changing shape slightly to have two holding players in there, which I don’t think works as well.

We were interested in him, as were Norwich, who knows who else was.

It looks like everyone was priced out except Wrexham who appear to have very deep pockets at the moment.
Like I've said before, if they stay up im sure they'll be happy with the deal.

The Doyle deal may not of suited us, but if its good for Wrexham then fair play to them.

We on the other hand, dont seem to be able to sign a CH for love nor money.
Although many like to have a go at Thomas and Kitching they are very good at this level. Any CB we bring in needs ro be at their level or above. That doesn't leave many affordable targets for us that someone's willing to sell.

I would prefer Grimes alongside more of a box to box midfielder, which we haven't had since Hamer left.

Whatever irons we have have in the fire we continue to pursue them. Also there is the potential scenario where other clubs in for the same players we are targeting pull out for whatever reason ( fixed up with another player for example). I've no idea what discussions are currently underway and neither has anyone else other than those directly involved.

I'd prefer to wait until January than sign players not good enough. We already have players not good enough who could cover just in case of injuries.

Neither KKH nor Brau have started a first team game so far. They’re not first team signings they’re potential or backup. Come on let’s not play pretend. We signed Rushworth in a loan (good IMO I wouldn’t have dropped that on a keeper until we’ve seen how Dovin comes back), we’ve spent 3.5m on a backup for MvE who won’t play unless MvE is out. And a free signing who hasn’t managed to displace the left back we all said needed replacing (though me less than others i still think we could have upgraded there).

Meanwhile we’ve let go two crap wingers but wingers none the less and sold a CB and accumulated three LBs.

It’s not great squad building is it? We’re still starting playing players out of position to fill gaps and the first team still feels like it needs freshening up.

Give it a rest FFS

Perhaps we should see what your mate Preston Haskell is doing these days?

We’d all like a Hamer regen, which is partly why a Torp upgrade is my wildcard. I still think the right CM transforms this (or most) teams. Don’t come along every day tho.
Of course not, which is why I'm not expecting one in the next week and a bit. Hopefully someone nabs him off Sheff Utd, sick of that cheat code sticking around in this league for those pricks.

Been saying for a month or so that Sheffield United are in trouble. Good loans went back and loans with no experience of the Championship came in. Big players for them sold and not replaced. A new manager that we would have been spitting feathers of we had taken him to manage us.

Hamer isn't happy but he is under contract. They want too much for him. He seems to be going through the motions and not giving 100%. He isn't the only one either.

Still got quite a bit about them even taking that into account, but I agree they're in worse shape than last season for sure.

We were top 3 on form last season after Lampard came, and but for an injury to Torp and Wright's niggles (and shite finishing) we could of been back at Wembley.

So there's no need for major changes.
Our first 11 will give anyone a game, its just strength in depth at CH and on the wings where we are lacking. And if we can get our strikers firing on all cylinders there's no reason to suggest we won't be top 6 again.

Sheff Weds have signed Horvath on emergency loan from Cardiff, pity this CCFC didn't offer them Collins !! hahahah

Actually surprised we didn't. Be better for both club and player to get him regular gametime elsewhere.
He's not a terrible keeper, but his head and confidence had clearly gone at the end of last season and he's now fourth choice when Dovin is back.

Woolfenden played pretty much every game for them when they went up, not a handful? Also your situation is entirely hypothetical as Lati hasn't done that so its completely meaningless.

Ok So if JDS plays most games this season, we go up and then he plays a handful of games in the prem… it doesn’t then add on a heap of value to him really does it cause he’s played in the prem.

I don't know what you're going on about honestly. It hasn't happened so it's completely irrelevant.

I would like more signings, especially at least one at CB, buuuuuut.....

For the first time in what seems like years, we've got a settled squad for the whole of preseason and the start of the season (as in, no departures bar Binks) and we've added in Rushworth, KHH and Brau.

We've been notoriously poor starters the last few seasons - this season we've got a manager who had top 3 form since he was in (according to a post above but I think that was right) and he's had the whole pre-season with the same squad and 3 additions.

And we've not (yet) lost any of our star players.

If we don't bring anyone else in, I'll be disappointed in the CB situation but other than that, a bit of luck with injuries and I'd still expect us to be challenging the top 4 with ease.

We signed Grimes on Friday 31st Jan and the window closed the following Monday. I haven't heard many people saying we over paid for him.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if we signed Hughes late on deadline day for the kind of fee we have already bid, with maybe a small enhancement. There are other clubs interested and Hull can afford to wait to see what develops. They don't really want to sell but may be in a position unsuitable to turn that kind of offer down. No one knows.
These sort of transactions are common on deadline day.

The last game with a few of their supporters having a go at Hamer and Hamer showing he isn't happy with them tells a story. And we think we're having a problem replacing players.

Would the “why arent we signing anyone” brigade be happy if we shifted Rudoni, MVE and Wright for example out for £20m and bought some shiny new toys in for £15m??? That’s what it feels like to me. You’re after a scenario which would satisfy your illogical craving for activity but would weaken the squad.

Some of the negativity is wild to me tbh. I'd like us to bring in a couple more players, but its not even the end of the window yet! 4 points, through in the cup, a manager that has accumulated more Championship points than any of his competitors since taking charge. Do some people have no chill?
We have 9 days, there is no point in getting this wound up about the transfer window until its done.

This... This is a joke right?
There's nothing like covering all bases 😂

Out of all the sides remaining in the Championship from last season we're the strongest. Other than Ipswich there's big question marks about the sides that got promotion or relegation. Without knowing about injuries/what happens before the transfer window closes we're looking at 2nd to 4th. A relegation battle? Just being in the bottom half would be counted as a disaster.

Id really worry about us until Jan but I think id take either and upgrade on Sakamoto/EMC or a CB. Wildcard: upgrade on Torp.

So you aren’t happy with KKH signing because he’s behind MvE and on the bench, but want to have EMC, Tats and Torp as backups on the bench?
