£30-40 million is cloud cuckoo land, I’m sorry. Go and look at some of the other players who’ve moved for that kind of money this summer.

The only reason to keep him in light of a ridiculous bid is if you’re convinced that this is our season to go up. But if you think the current team is in such decrepit shape, why would you turn down silly money for a player that could help rebuild it?
it's not his value on ability, it's the amount of money that it would take for us to write off this season

only idiots think the team is in a "decrepit" state

The thing that boggles my brain is that fans think it’s ok for Hull to sell Hughes to us but not ok for City to sell to other championship clubs.

They also think it’s logical for saints to sell one or two of their best players but illogical for us to do the same.

make it make sense …:
Football fans for you. Liverpool fans have been the biggest hypocrites this summer. Called Trent a rat, booed him & harassed his family, then a couple of months later they are celebrating when Isak down tools to try and force a move

It would actually surprise me if Rudoni or Hughes actually agreed to move to Southampton / us.

It would be a small step up, but would make it much harder for larger clubs to sign them in the near future. I don't think either move would necessarily be in the players' best long-term interests.

Both clubs would be seen as stepping stones.

BSB says the team needs improvement “all over the defence, on the wings, in the middle and up top”. But other than that I guess it’s in great shape?

You can’t have it both ways - either this team is promotion-ready and must be kept together at all costs, or this team needs investment and that has to come from one of our most valuable players.

Again that's a very simplistic understanding of football sorry. You can't sign unlimited players, we have signed replacements. If you aren't happy with them that's a different conversation but he has been replaced.

Ayari and Torp were the replacements and neither are fit to lace his boots in terms of impact on the side.

needing improvement to take us to the next level is not the same as decrepit though

Yes, but with another good season, then you get bigger fish coming in next summer.

Move now, and it's more difficult for those bigger fish to get you.

Neither would big enough steps up to be worthwhile for a player that seriously backs themselves, imo.

We only have two fit recognised centre halves and just Sakamoto to play wide right for starters. You’re then also adding a Rudoni replacement.

Hamer went for £15 million in the last year of his contract. Rudoni is simply much more valuable.

What sort of clubs? I'd imagine they'd be looking at clubs recently promoted to the PL, who could quite easily buy them if they really wanted.

Only twice in his whole career...the last time 3 seasons ago.

The last time was season before last no? So 2 years ago.

Plus I'm sure he had at another season at the 15 level? And then at least 3 years in the premier League around that and of course his 20 goal season with us at the lower level.

He's a very good striker at this level with the right style of play which we don't have.

Shmmeee you seem to be repeating what I have said? I have already said you can claim the replacements aren't good enough fine. But he has been replaced.

No championship club should be able to afford the fee that rudoni is worth.

If it’s true we’re asking for £15m then there has to be a financial reason and I won’t be happy.

I think it’s all noise though and expect him here past the window.
It’s an FLW exclusive I think that 15 million

it’s quite clearly bollocks

Regardless of model, it would be a real low blow to loose JR at this stage in season , to a league rival.

I just dont see it happening, unless it's silly silly money (£30m+) and then reluctantly we have to accept it. We don't need to sell and Lampard would not be happy, wonder what that would do to the his relationship with King. Smacks a little of saints perhaps trying to unsettle him/club via media, still spoke directly about him in press conference which was poor also imo.

It would also make the last 3 weeks now, as others have said just chaos and likely we make errors in recruitment because we are desperate (overpaying etc). Yes I would think we have planned, but the reality of that is a lot harder, as we found with Hamer and failed attempts to get replaced quickly - Danny Perriera and also tried hard for another overseas midfielder player which didnt happen.

From JR point of view, football wise he would be best served doing another season under lampard. Appreciate thats a fans view, rather than cold blooded job decision which the players will take.

No, it was the 2023-2024 season. I rate him but I also think we could do better for the amount he'd cost.

Spot on with Rudi's POV. If I was his agent I would be telling him to sit tight for another 6-12 months because if he can replicate his form from the 2nd half of last season there's a great chance he will be playing football for an established prem club next season, instead of jumping ship now and being stuck at a yoyo club like Gus is now.

I really don’t think it’s unreasonable or unrealistic, he’s that good and that important.
It’s also not about what the player is valued to someone else, but what they are valued to us.

He’s our key player, on a long contract and doesn’t seem to be pushing for a move. Therefore, he’s always going to be worth to us than he would be to someone else.
