Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window (83 Viewers)

If he’s decided not to go for a promotional push then I’m sure the 60 pound padded seats will be a tough sell

the aim has to be top 6 and promotion

also it’s the job of Lampard to improve who we actually have. Not one player has gone yet and that’s also important

Sounds reasonable @Matt smith but doesn’t it seem odd after all the talk of having lists prepared for every transfer scenario, no one seems to have heard of any interest from the club in a LCB? Unless the Doyle thread wasn’t just a bit of fun?

And the year before? In this division? For us? Or does that not count.
Wasn't it something like 13 in the league and 6 against mainly easy opposition in the cups.

64th highest scorer in the Championship last season. Beaten by countless defenders and midfielders. I'm sorry but I agree with the 85% here. We don't know how Wright will be. He has struggled since last year with injuries and our two other strikers got a total of 10 goals. I don't know how anyone can go into the season with confidence in our strikers. Was it 22 goals from all all 3 of our strikers in a whole season cups and league?

Do you honestly think we’d sell Binks without a plan in place on replacing him?

Lampard needs this to go well and therefore I’m sure he’s going to be backed

We have FOUR weeks still to go in THIS window. Why would you reach the conclusion you have ???
Worry, desire to look forward to a team that will still compete in the top six despite the increased competition, being a supporter… I could go on, I take your point though there is still time just wish we were further ahead.

That’s six, and you said seven was inconceivable. It’s not it’s a fairly normal amount of turnover. Last year was supposed to be light because we’d made big investments the year before.

To get a new manager in and he makes one permanent first team signing in his first summer is pretty rare. Clearly we needed to get shot of more than we’ve been able to.
There's 4 weeks to do that yet. You make it sound so simple but somebody has to be prepared to buy those we want out.

Still as divorced from reality as ever mate 👍🏻

What’s your version of reality then? That it’s been a brilliant transfer window? We’re absolutely ready for the season and every eventuality? You’re confident we’re going to be promoted then? Fair enough if so, I’m just not as confident as you with the way our defence and strikers look.

How do you propose we fund all this? The team we have finished 5th and so far we have added to it and not lost anyone of any note

I’ll admit I don’t follow the accountancy of our club intently but is it possible Doug can put in a few mil to buy a decent CB or ST? Anyone know what those extra shares were for, or was it just made up in the end? Also happy for Simms, Allen or Eccles to go if we get a few quid for them? When I said it’s been a boring window it’s not just about the incoming signings, would also be good if we saw a few loans out or sales to free up cash.

We’ve strengthened a squad that finished 5th Not sure what everyone’s expecting, it’s the same squad that finished 4th top scorers and we’ve strengthened where we needed to, keeper, Cover for MVE and a left back, I’m happy with that for next week and if we can add to it, then bonus

There's 1 week before the season starts.

It would be nice for the squad to actually be ready for the start, just once, is that too much too expect.
I agree but it’s easy to forget we are part of a food chain and often we don’t get to eat what we always want

Yeah I know what you mean, we’re not in an awful position, it’s fine, I just don’t feel like a promotion is locked in for this season yet. It’s a long term thing though so I suppose it doesn’t matter if we don’t get promoted this year, would love to see promotion in the next 2-3 years though 🥹

I want the squad to get better and I expect it too.

The signings will come and as @fernandopartridge said, MVE, Sheaf, Wright, Rudi all still here

to counter act that, would I sell Milan to beef up the budget? Yes I probably would but gone of the days of us not being able to be forceful in transfer negotiations
You've come a long way mate

I'm as frustrated as anybody about the lack of business.
BUT.... Any list we have drawn up would have had the same players on as numerous other clubs.

You never know how things will go and how agents will play clubs off with each other.

There is a chance we were serious about Bertacinni - as soon as Anderlecht come in - game over.

Doyle may have been on the list before City slapped a 10 mil tag on him.

There is a chance some of those who were have seen go to other clubs were on our list and we have spoken to them.

Mikey Moore. Rumours we were after him - Rangers..

Kvistgaarden - possibly on list, had a stellar season, price gone up too much - Norwich.

We will be in for players. Whether they will come....who knows.

Also, the Lampard Chelsea links.....yeah, he played/managed them - but who is left from either of those spells that has a relationship with him to tink their loans should come here!??

Obviously @Ccfcisparks is laughing at my comment

why couldn’t we attract that caliber of loanee?

I believe we have a manager who would have a massive influence.
Quality of manager who has brought players on and also a top Championship side. Just what Prem sides are looking for to send their players to for experience. Look at the quality loan we have so far in Rushworth.

Spot on, think people think it’s football manager, layer in the quality of player we are now after (highly sought players) agents become a real challenge .

There is 5 weeks before deadline, Lampard knows what we are missing/need. Trust, be calm and assess on September 1st.

I don’t think it’s been a bad window at all. I’d like a new CB and ST but I’m OK starting the season with this squad. I still want some of the deadwood cleared though.

We’ve not lost anyone important, got fantastic cover at right back, got a fantastic goalkeeper to cover Dovin and may have found a gem at left back on a free.

Whatever else we need, I’m sure we will get before the window closes but for for now, we are more than strong enough to compete.

Don’t feel like I’m worried, just a bit bored but then whenever there’s a transfer window I always feel like I want the club to buy more players than is actually practical 😂 As for the money, isn’t Doug a multi-multi millionaire? Surely we don’t know what he does or doesn’t want to do with regards to the future of the club, and so really the question should be what are our FFP-type restrictions?

At the price we want. We’ve had interest that we’ve knocked back. All fine if we do eventually sell. Less so if we end up with two RBs and no other players.

Yes we are, we had a solid team last season and they still are. There is a lot to be said for continuity, look at Leeds.

Same, Think we’re maybe one more season away, but we’re on the way, squads getting stronger but always think we’re missing that bit of quality to get us over the line, we Just ran out of options and Had no plan B, too Predictable, think we’re maybe 2 quality signings away from having a proper go at it

We had a proper go at it last year, we lost in the last minute of a play off final second leg. What does having a go at it really mean?
