Experienced CB. Not really sure on the other positives. Maybe the plan is to let Binks go on loan and hopefully develop and have him on a backup for a year? Maybe save money here to spend elsewhere on the squad?

After all, you’d have Thomas, Kitching, Lati and Bauer as your choices in order and then maybe Binks comes back next year to replace Bauer?
I mean the defence still looks undercooked in that scenario. CB is too important a position to try and skimp it on the cheap.

Plus if we are a bit less rigid in shape, and change or start games with the back three, could be a good option down the centre?
Personally I think we need better than Lati. Why bring in someone that isn't as good as someone who isn't good enough?

Can’t see why on earth we’d want Bauer, he’s old, slow as fuck, no re-sell value, okay he can head a ball out but we need more attributes than that to be competing for top 6.

Develop him? He's 23 not a rookie 19 year old

More likely to be MVE especially as Wright isn't fit to start the season. Would he even pass a medical?

Would his current issue be a problem? I always thought that medicals were checking for big things, heart problems, lung capacity, botched surgeries etc as opposed to things like muscle strains and tendonitis that would recover fairly quickly with the correct treatment/rest.

Doesn’t look like a great signing if true. Feel like a loan signing would be a better option especially if it is just for the year
Their fans thought he would end up in L1. Its an atrocious signing. He's a bog standard championship CB who has played 12 games in 3 years, I just dont get it.

Yeah I know I’m normally quite positive and willing to support the process. But this signing (if him) is more reminiscent of the Sisu bargain basement days. Don’t get me wrong as seems Lampard wants him based on the mesg and he clearly knows more than me, but I don’t see it

Am I reading this right? This guy hasn’t played regularly since 2021?

I'd suspect it's bamford more than the CB.

Either way the CB will be filling a back up role for a season perhaps, Binks might be out the door on loan. Hope we keep Lati.

If it is a replacement for Binks who's going on loan somewhere then it's likely a year contract anyways.

I doubt he's getting much game time if he did come but it's obviously just a back up role incase someone got injured.

Would ideally have Binks in that scenario though. 🤷‍♂️

Stinks of a Bling money saving masterclass
It hasn't happened before so why would it happen now?

Because of my autism I can never tell if someone is on a wind up or being serious unless I can see their face. That's why it's easy to drag me into pointless arguments. But King has been very good for us and has always done what's best for our future. Not every signing will ever work out but he has never done it on the cheap.

Curiously if it is a case of limited funds, would we rather have more funds allocated towards the RW/ST E.G. Bertaccini and Bauer or the opposite?
Difficult question.

If we knew who is about to leave we would have a better idea on what's needed to balance the side. As things stand our best striker has been struggling with fitness all year and its nearly August. To me the top priority is a striker who knows where the back of the net is.

Anyone we bring in should be with a view of being in the 1st team straight away like our last 2 signings. Does Bauer fit this?
