Not like you to shit the bedWe need a proper number nine
as far as I’m concerned I’d happily let all 3 go or at least 2, they’re not good enough
waiting to see this amazing potential Bassette has to be honest

Torp is an excellent CM and a much better option at AM than Bassette.Just a thought…
I know we’ve been saying we need an O’Hare like player to run at people, a back up AM to Rudoni but have we thought about perhaps Bassette in that position? Hard for me to remember cause he didn’t play so much towards the end of the season but from what I remember he ran at people (albeit usually he was offside) but perhaps if he was a little bit further back where he couldn’t be offside could he perhaps do a job there?
Also where do people feel Torp’s best position is? I’m still so on the fence with Torp, he’s someone you feel ‘could’ get there but always isn’t quite there (except that game he scored two)
Could Torp play AM? He doesn’t quite seem a CM but also doesn’t quite seem an AM

With Allen I feel if he was has one good game(which he often does) it buys him enough credit for a run of 4-5 shit ones with many fans. Other players do not get that same mercyTotally agree but there are surely other areas that need addressing first .
The most important thing for me is the drop off in quality when the first choices aren't fit ,rested, suspended . Eccles offers very little drop off in that respect but look at Binks ,Lati,BTA , Bassette and the drop off is considerable
Thats why we have a scouting team. They cover al over the world. Im fairly sure there is an upgrade on Eccles somewhere on the planetWho is an upgrade on Eccles ?
I keep seeing this posted on here like it's an easy solution
I'm not suggesting there isn't but it's the glib manner that some think it's an easy fixThats why we have a scouting team. They cover al over the world. Im fairly sure there is an upgrade on Eccles somewhere on the planet
I disagree with this tbh, goalscoring really isn’t an issue. We scored 64 goals last season which was more than Sheff United and only 5 less than Burnley. The reason they finished on considerably more points than us is simply goals conceded. We conceded the most in the top 11 and more than 19th, 20th and 21st.Our xGA (which you might say is a measure of how many chances we give up) was 52.6 last season, vs 55.9 the season before and 54.7 the 2022/23 play off season. We have two very good centre halfs, a reasonable back up in Lati and somebody in Binks who has lost his way a bit.
It is lower priority imo to addressing our goalscoring problem, especially as goals can have such an impact on the flow of a game. It'd be interesting to see what the game state was when we conceded (i.e. do we concede mostly when level in games)?
Well the retort to people suggesting we upgrade asking "WHO THEN" is equally as moronic.I'm not suggesting there isn't but it's the glib manner that some think it's an easy fix

I forgot that only the strikers goals counted.. my bad.How many did our strikers score?

Haji is a proper number 9…We need a proper number nine

I think a big help to our system would be a striker who is happy to drop into the ten role, to help enable space through the middle.
Think our strikers can all be a bit static, which means we struggle to break sides down at time without resorting to the wings
I need to join the clever group obviouslyWell the retort to people suggesting we upgrade asking "WHO THEN" is equally as moronic.

Do agree on the lack of depth on the wings especially if you don’t include Wright as a left winger but as the starting striker.Haji is a proper number 9…
One area we struggled last season was that we didn’t have options to change matches from the bench. If Rudoni/Sakamoto/EMC were having off games, there wasn’t any alternatives to switch things up. There isn’t much point in having 3 strikers on the bench when your formation has one striker.
A team as good as ours really shouldn’t have had to rely on Paterson as our only AM/LW cover on the bench.
Leeds and Burnley had Gnotto, Solomon, James, Edwards and Anthony for options. Add in Hamer, Rak-Sakyi, Bereton-Diaz and Brewster for Sheff U. That’s a lot of depth that we just don’t have.
Unless you are shopping at the top of the game then any player at this level is upgradableI'm not suggesting there isn't but it's the glib manner that some think it's an easy fix
Are those strikers we’ve got good enough to get us into the premier league then clever clogsNot like you to shit the bed
I guess Burnley should be looking to replace Flemming because Brownhill excused him? The same goes for Sheff U and Campbell? (Who Haji outscored having played less games). It’s not a requirement for the CF to score all the goals? As is consistently proven throughout the Championship and Premier league. Haji was in fact our top scorer so I don’t understand your point.Well its their primary role.
Just because Rudoni made up for their poor finishing doesnt mean we should excuse them.
Yes Id suggest Burnley will be looking better than Flemming for the Premier LeagueI guess Burnley should be looking to replace Flemming because Brownhill excused him? Thank you for avoiding the point.Yes Id suggest Burnley will be looking better than Flemming for the Premier League
I'd like our backup strikers if we insist on Haji playing down the middle to be more competent yes. Unlike you I dont settle for mediocrity. It appears our elite tactician doesnt either which is good.Thank you for avoiding the point.
I’d like our back up strikers to be more competent yes. I think mediocre is abit strong. But you weren’t making that point. You said the issue wasn’t the defence it was the forwards. Then it was the strikers weren’t scoring enough. Now it’s back up strikers aren’t good enough. Counting up I believe the club has only 24 over 21 y.o. players even counting Collins & the injured players so there is still room for 1 more player. Amirite? That’s what I wanted to hear.
Feels to me like we’ve got a lot of transfer business still to do.
Lampard will know we need an improvement at Centre forward it’s so clear to seeI'd like our backup strikers if we insist on Haji playing down the middle to be more competent yes. Unlike you I dont settle for mediocrity. It appears our elite tactician doesnt either which is good.
That article in the Daily Mail was clearly sanctioned by the club, it was too detailed surely for it not to be so. It also read like a mutual come and get him / me message from the club and Wright. I also thought it was a very clear message to say Binks and Bidwell can leave and to drum up interest. Now until the end of the window will be interesting and hopefully exciting.Lampard will know we need an improvement at Centre forward it’s so clear to see

We are not going to sign 2 players. We will sign a player who can play both St and RWI would 100% keep wright I really rate him
The problem is he’s best off the left and I like EMC too.
I’d love to sign a role player right winger and a ST and rotate 5/6 for 3 spots
Sakamoto
New RW
New ST
Simms/BTA
Wright
EMC
The defence was definitely more of an issue. We were the highest scoring team out of the playoff teams yet the worst in GA. We would've probably scored more if Haji wasn't out for a huge chunk of the season.
In terms of eye test alone the manner in which we conceded goals as well was also on the whole consistently poor.
He's out for a month or so, not done his ACLNobody is coming in for Eccles whilst he is injured
Why are you making it personal? it’s a discussion on a football forum, don’t get so flustered about differing opinionsI never mentioned the centre halves.
The strikers are the forwards correct?
I think your reading comprehension seems particularly low. I'm assuming you are one of the posters who wanted Wilson to start the season.
