Without interest in Lati, Binks, and Simms we have built up a fair bit of deadwood. I say that, if someone could physically put some fire in Simms' belly we'd be sorted up front.

The fact I didn’t list two of our LBs says it all. Clear out definitely needed so we can improve the overall state of the reserves imo.

That's not quite how a squad works though. It's not team A and B it's fluid between the two. So we bring in MAB at LB to give MVE a rest and KKH plays right back. Also right goes left wing to give Mason Clarke a break and Simms in for Wright if a rest is needed.

Where I think we lack is out and out match winners and a bit of pace on the wings. I am hoping George from Chelsea comes in as he offers this off either wing and maybe a keeper to come in as Dovin while excellent will need time to get back up to speed and should any rehab not go perfectly we can't really on current options for too much of the season!

And if Wright is fit and firing up front? Just move him out and stick Simms in regardless? We saw last season the issue with that thinking and having to completely change your system because of a couple of injuries to players you had double counted.

Someone will definitely come in for Bidwell on a free, Dasilva actually improved substantially in the second half of the season so I'd be fine him starting the season at LB. If MVE goes, we're back again to having just one RB and asking for trouble

Do we really think George will move to the Championship?
Can see him going abroad or to another PL side

I get this point but on the second team, you have KKH and Wright to cover the roles mentioned.

Beauty of a few of our players is the versatility they bring, like KKH could play RB, LB, RW, LW and therefore can cover four play roles

People bang on about square pegs and round holes. But managers love players with flexibility. Why? Because take a 25 man squad and you more or less have two players in each position. 2 or 3 injuries later and all of a sudden you are looking thin on the ground. So you need 3 or 4 players who can adopt to different positions. Managers will often trust an experienced player to adapt to a different position more than an untried 19 year old playing for the first time in their favoured position. It's called managing your resources.

You know what I'm glad that Sunderland went up and not us. They're having a real go in the window fair play. Bling would have been scraping around for coppers to sign Jamie Vardy on a free, and would have told Lampard Lati is good enough back up for the Prem.

Let’s be honest Saddles info aside Rapha wasn’t even making the bench last season and BTA isn’t a winger so really if we are playing Wright as a striker we’ve got no back up at RW LW or Rudi at AM really (yeah Torp but he’s our only real 8 and a different profile). Plus nothing at RB as you say if MvE goes as we expect.

It would have been nice for a season or two to be up in the PL for the young fans to see us there. Greeting from Da Nang in Vietnam where I am for the weekend.

Pure speculation on your part of course. None of us know what we might have done if we had gone up.

We aren't going to buy rw,lw and am though cause that really would bloat the squad . EMC can play on both flanks if needed .
Wouldnt mind an attacking midfielder on loan but could we guarantee him game time ?

No but they’re positions one or two signings could cover all of them. We will want to replace our wingers and strikers more than anyone. Replacing both isn’t unheard of. Currently we have one lad who is yet to show the required ability or fitness and two wingers with a history of injuries.

EMC can't play at RW. He couldn't at Peterborough, and as shown when Robins attempted at trying him out there he can't here.

We need another RW winger in or someone who's versatile and can play a couple of positions.

In reality getting someone who can cover on the right and AM would be perfect..

Push come to show we have both EMC and Wright who can operate well on the left.

Like I've just said it probably wasnt the best example

Im just being facetious but the point is they’re two high energy positions and saying “yeah but they can all play each others position” doesn’t change the fact there’s only three of them. We aren’t talking “oh what if we get a long term injury” here but more “what if we’re 1-0 down and the wingers look dead/arent on it?”

you can players that can cover all 3

EMC is a far lesser player on the RW

But that is the reality of football. Perhaps the right wing is a part of his game he needs to develop if he wants to push on as a footballer. The notion that a right footed winger can't adapt to playing on the right wing is nonsense. Also a lot of our fans are like a rabbit in headlights and have based their opinion on one small comment Darragh MacAnthony made in an interview. Well I'm sorry but MacAnthony is not a football coach and is not Frank Lampard.

It’s alright lads when Saka gets tired EMC can play on the right and when EMC gets tired Saka can play on the left #squadflexibility

Not saying this is ideal. But Rudoni can play on either left or right flank. Da Silva started his career as a winger. MVE is dangerous in advanced positions on the right. Eccles has played advanced wide right. BTA actually played very wide for WBA a lot of the time. Raphael may or may not be a different proposition this year we don't know.

Some of those are options. Okay not as good as your first choice wingers, but that is football management, adapting and finding a way.

The idea of signing a winger who is good on the right and left is not a bad one and I do think Saka needs competition. Also there are elements of his game that needs improving. For me he is in the same camp as Torp, Eccles, EMC, Thomas and Kitching. Players we can still develop.
