It depends where we are with injuries ect.
Calling it massive is a bit dramatic at this stage when really we need another winger and a midfielder probably at best.
I wouldn't be doing too much to disrupt what could well be a very settled squad at that point apart from filling obvious gaps.
Prem money will sort that out. He’s just objectively correct on succession planning. Aside from KKH, there isn’t anyone being readied to step up when there’s a major sale.
and we can be pretty confident we've got a decent chunk of change to use. Sheaf and Binks and the Vik money is about £12m. KKH and Woolfenden is about £6m so even if we only spend the difference, should be enough.

That could basically be in house, how's Kai getting on?I’d be happy with a versatile wide player and centre midfielder if they were both quality additions. A young version of Grimes please Doug.
We'll already owe a large portion of that,, won't we?Prem money will sort that out.
I wouldn't disrupt it either but it's massive in the sense that it'll likely make the difference or not to going up if we're in contention for the top 2.It depends where we are with injuries ect.

Eh to who? A few promotion clauses to be paid up i'm sure, biggest one is Simms as far as i know but it'll be a drop in the ocean. We'll already owe a large portion of that,, won't we?
I see his comments as an ambition more than a complaint to be fair to him. If we don’t go up this season, there will be a good amount of squad turnover and a fast start will be pretty unlikely. With the greatest respect to Lampard how many Championship clubs genuinely have that kind of luxury...?
It's exceptionally rare that if a key player is sold another is waiting in the wings ready and able to automatically step into their shoes.
He's only really correct in theory.

Got to be honest I thought all of them were on that basis, conservatively how much would that be?Eh to who? A few promotion clauses to be paid up i'm sure, biggest one is Simms as far as i know but it'll be a drop in the ocean.

Nah Simms was the only one I know of who had a large part of his reported fee as promotion add ones. Others will have small ones I'm sure but it will be insignificant compared to that Prem wedge.Got to be honest I thought all of them were on that basis, conservatively how much would that be?

It's massive in the sense that it could well make the difference in going up or not, not how many players we'll bring in.Would it though?
Luton when they went up only brought a couple of players, Sunderland brought in a couple last January as well.
I think if we utilise it correctly in terms of bringing in quality where it's needed then sure it's an important window but I'd only really qualify it as massive if we desperately need incomings e.g. in the event key players are out long term.

I think those clauses are likely to be out of time now anyway, they weren't reported to be open ended. Two years maybe. Haji had one too for sure and there are probably/possibly others, the details of the deals weren't all disclosed but I suspect we at least tried to do it with all of the players that we've brought in.Nah Simms was the only one I know of who had a large part of his reported fee as promotion add ones. Rudoni needs one I'd have assumed?
It didn't really make much of a difference to Sunderland's and Luton's promotion charge if you look at who they brought in.
Possibly you could argue Sunderland more than Luton with Le Fee but he was incredibly average for the most part.
I think it's a case of using the window to compliment what we already have. At this stage I wouldn't really look at making any major changes apart from improving depth.
Sunderland has a parachute clubs wage bill last season IIRC. They didn’t need to add in Jan they already had the squad.
Is that the promotion winning season?I mean that's just not true is it. Their wage bill in their last set of accounts sat at around £31m - which is nowhere near parachute club level.

ohNo. Latest accounts available are for 23/24 season.
When clearly I didn’t RC, maybe I’m thinking squad value. What’s the league average? I thought it was about 20m
I'd say closer to £30m. Half of the league's wage bill ranges from £30m to over £100m+ at the time Leicester were last in the Championship.
There was only a handful on £20m or less.
