Nobody wanted him in the first place. Was talk of Mourinho, David Ancelotti and all sorts, so Martin was very underwhelming.
There's been some very strange signings too.

Gassama was a good pick up, not sure about the rest of the signings

Looking at the video of Wolfenden it was in the afternoon at the training ground and he had signed for us! So why all the cuntish behaviour to announce it after 9:30 they can get fucked as far as I am concerned! Obviously taking the piss out of the fans

It’s the paperwork and transfer deadline day is the busiest period for the people formalising the registration of players.

For example, Marc Guehi had all but agreed to join Liverpool before Palace pulled out.

The transfer window has closed. Silly season has started.

If anyone told us we would keep all our better players we all would have been happy. We've only lost Sheaf that could/would have got game time. Played 6 minutes this season and got injured. His place has been taken by Grimes who is normally an ever present. Sheaf has already missed about the same amount of games this season as Grimes has missed in the last 6 years. The vast majority were in agreement that Grimes and Sheaf together don't work. Yet suddenly Sheaf is a massive loss.

So who else is a loss that's left?

Binks was said to be shite. Woolfenden is his replacement. MVE now has cover so can be rested when needed and doesn't need to play every game of the season.

Yes it would have been good to bring in another midfielder but it wasn't to be. But now all of our backup midfielders are supposed to be shite. Eccles will be back soon. We don't have to play Collins or Wilson.

Just about all of us agreed that we needed to strengthen our defence. Woolfenden has been there and done it. He played in the Prem. Most of their supporters are saying he has been treated badly and wanted to keep him.

Yes the last day of the transfer window could have been a lot better. But as a whole it has been a good one. Yes we will be weakened when the injuries start coming but that's the same for every other club.

I still have us finishing 2nd to 4th. For those saying mid table it would be good for someone saying it to name the 10 teams or so that will finish above us. We have a side full of goals. We have brought in a very experienced defender. Can't think of a squad I'd prefer to ours. And we have the funds to strengthen in the next window.

I don't get why they didn't just say business concluded.

I don't think the communication has helped at all

Perhaps they thought they could get another one over the line?

I think they tried to get in a loan signing but didn't get it over the line.

Top 6 squad? No.
Top 6 starting XI? Yes.

Wonder if we did fail to get something over the line or simply doubled down with a thin squad.

Insanity if we saw us the last two seasons and thought what we needed was fewer players of quality.

Seeing those squad depth charts floating around its clear to me this squad is set up to play 5 ATB given the depth at CB & wing back and lack of wingers. I wouldn’t want to see it become our preferred option, particularly at home, but I can see the benefits against certain opposition.

Some really odd comments being made in this thread.

Do people actually think that Ben Sheaf is the reason we got to the play offs last year?

Thoughts this morning.

Right side of brain: Relax! This team won 7-1 two weeks ago. We’re all good.

Left side of brain: Dele Alli could still do a job

The comments from Ipswich fans here.. a team that's absolutely schooled us the last few times we've played them btw, make for excellent reading. You don't often see that about outgoing players.
The disrespect from some on this forum about the Woolf will not be tolerated.

I don't know whether Lampards a chuck them in type manager or make them wait type manager tbh. We haven't signed him enough players to find out
I'd imagine he'd be in before too long, the defending has hardly been stellar has it.

We weren’t allowed to ask during the summer. Apparently wondering why there was no activity was bed wetting.

Comms from admin were indeed very poor.

They show a lack of understanding of how fans actually behave on that final day of the window.

I doubt the club even recognise it. The fan representative forum that meets with King should mention it as part of the feedback on fan experience. It’s an easy quick win.

And still Lampard never seemed to rate him by leaving on the bench, Eccles is an ok midfielder who lacks concentration at times and also follows the same standard Sheaf set by givin the ball away in stupid places

The reaction to Austin is crazy.

Look at the last 48 hrs for almost every club, even the champions Liverpool. Their biggest signing in the final day and one long term target missed.

Why do we think we should be able to operate in a different way to every other club ???

Would be interesting to know who we were actually in for over the course of this window and the reasons why transfers didn't get over the line.

I think it’s been a boring, fairly uninspired window but given we bought our stadium and a few good players I’ll not be moaning.

Not really bothered about Raphael going out because it just means they don’t rate him highly enough right now to be of any value to the current squad. We’re very light out wide now which isn’t great and if we get hit with a few injuries it may get a bit ropey.

Overall, we’re at the same level in what on the face of it seems to be a weaker than expected championship so I don’t really doubt that we’ll be in and around the play-offs come crunch time.

I think Godo, Hughes and that Bodo CB were the only ones that got out that we actually bid for.

Yes I’ve always been fascinated by this.

It was one of the disappointing aspects of the interviews with Boddy and Adi that we never really got an insight on this …

If we’d been offered to be in this situation at the start of the summer there’s no way anyone would have said no.

Not every club does tweet that. It seems to be a modern thing because people are so desperate for signings.

If they had put that tweet out, it would have brought more negativity from our fans who have already lost their heads.
