That's great money for someone who spends half a season injured. More than happy with that and if it allows us to bring in others/keep Rudoni/MVE, it needs to be done.

I'd look at Kozubal as a replacement.

6.5 million for our captain and when not injured one of the best midfielders in the league. Fair play for the stadium Doug but that is criminal
He's made of glass and everyone knows it?
If you think he's worth 12 million, you can half that because he only plays half a season, if your lucky!

Club captain with essentially 2 years left and it doesn't leave us time to sort a proper replacement. Should've got more than that
I’m assuming we have someone lined up.
We can barely get 20-30 games a season out of him and he’s now 4th in the pecking list of midfield.

We’ve outgrown him and he’s injury prone. 6.5-8.5M is BRILLIANT business imo

We must replace Sheaf. Sensible to sell for that price. Replacing with a kid from Chelsea is not acceptable.

give me Will Smallbone. OR a random dynamic nuisance we’ve never heard of.

times ticking quickly.

Let's now go over to live footage of Doug King, who is currently on holiday with a group of friends in Antarctica:

I was in my car for just over an hour as this broke and developed. I absolutely did not see this coming.

In his pomp he was a wonderful player for us, and I had the opportunity to attend his meet the players night in Warwick last season. He came across as a very impressive human being and was wonderful in particular with the children present.

I'm going to miss him, but if I'm thinking realistically £6.5m for a player in the last year of his contract with an injury record as rotten as his would represent some pretty incredible business. Him being made captain was also a bugbear of mine, he so obviously wasn't suited to that.

Smallbone? You are replacing what is essentially a back up midfielder at this stage, one who doesn't play that many games before getting injured

Example, clearly other options and sure / hope we have them lined up.

personally big fan of Smallbone, excellent football. In hindsight we do still lack a really dynamic engine, but I’m not sure who.

He's not even one of the best midfielders in our squad, let alone the league.

He's not good enough sat in front of the defence. Grimes does that job MUCH better than he does. Sweeps better, finds a better range of passes, etc.

And he's nowhere near quick enough or attack minded enough to compete with Torp further forward. Torp has scored 4 goals in 4 this season. Sheaf has scored 8 in his entire career. He fits in only as a squad player, nothing more.

So, for up to £8.5m for a squad player, that is injured more than not of late, is great business.

If we get a replacement by end of tomorrow then 6.5m is a brilliant bit of business. If we don't then it's absolutely shite

Edit* just watched the first half of Liverpool Arsenal. And if that's what the prem has to offer, I'd rather stay in the championship. Absolutely dire
