Nothing to do with Hughes, as a standalone point I’m not massively enthused by Wolfendon.

One solid season in the Championship, and a handful of games in the Premier League. Stats looks great for a ball playing CB, but not sure that’s the gap we need to fill.

I’m by no means writing him off, and I think he’ll be decent enough, but not convinced he’s the upgrade and answer we ideally need.

Again, nothing to do with Hughes, I’m not writing him off, I’ll fully support him etc, but if it is £5M, I think we’ve paid the English and Ex-Prem tax tbh.

i haven't said I know everything about him now have I?

better luck next time
You said he’s a very good centre half. To form that opinion you must have seen a lot of Ipswich games during the season he was a regular in the championship.

yes, that is because I have watched a decent bit of him and some of his PL games

that is not "claiming to know everything about him", it's just i have watched a bit of him and think he is very good

It feels like an enigma this. Feels like we concede 2 goals a game and when we don’t, we make individual mistakes that could have led to them. Burnley last season conceded 16 all season. Stating the obvious but it can only be the level of quality of the Squad and system/coaching.

Therefore, does a Hughes coming on make a difference? Extra body. Potential leader? But would be still concede 2 a game?

It’s mental that a club under an embargo/in financial difficulties is dissuaded from selling a player 🤷‍♂️. Surely the rule should allow cheap replacements
It’s harder because they can’t realistically replace the player

We won’t be signing two CBs, it will either be the Woolf or Hughes and according to Saddle we have signed the former.

Maybe we can revisit Hughes next year when we are in the PL.

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying it’s a ridiculous rule. As long as a majority of sale proceeds goes towards sorting financial mess out surely that would be a good thing. Blocking cheap replacements for big sales doesn’t help anyone

Woolfenden has played RB which I find interesting.
We were talking about this yesterday. With him being more of a ball playing CB, we wondered if the idea of bringing him in would give us the option to switch things up tactically during matches, possibly switching to a 3 at the back when needed with him playing the right side. Though i know Lampard seems set with his formation, are we trying to build a squad that gives us more depth to be able to adjust when needed.
