Ipswich supporting brother in law thinks the fee will be around £6m, and that they would sell him, they've been trying to get another CB in as apparently he's told the club he wants game time. Not ITK by any means!!!
I’ve heard the same on that he is not happy at the lack of playing time

Except we don’t have to replace a whole squad.

I mean, basically we've bid a for a promising young CB but his team wants the kind of money only a PL team will pay so we have moved on and have now bid for a CB who has got out of this league before.

Someone like Woolfenden would be perfect if it’s a replacement for Binks. Experienced, talented, probably a similar level to Bobby/Kitch. Reduces the risk of Bidwell playing centre half in a meaningful game.

If it’s the Bobby replacement then we’d need another (Asante makes sense if that’s a real rumour as a young talented player with upside to push the other 3)

We are going for quality, not quantity. So yes, we will be making bids for players that are well thought of and that others will want as well. Some of the shite people would happily want us to sign just so we make a signing is really worrying. I’m more than comfortable with us waiting for the right players.

Ipswich may not want rid of him, but no doubt after hearing of our bid he will have a discussion with them as it doesn’t look like he will play much. Wonder who leaked the bid to the press? Oh, the agent again. We will get the players in we need to but we won’t be panic buying much to the disgust of a few in here.

Why would he come to us to be a bench player when he wants to leave ipswich for first team football.

Would you rather we sign players who clubs are desperate to get rid of?

Some people on here are genuinely mental during the transfer window hahaha
Well no, obviously not but there is a difference between players clubs are desperate to get rid of and players that clubs will field reasonable offers for. Most clubs these days won’t even put in a bid until they’re fairly confident they can get the deal done. Lurching from target to target, putting in bids below valuation and then scampering away with our tails between our legs just comes across a bit amateurish, is all. Also, let’s everyone know we’ve got some money burning a hole in our pocket for a centre back which isn’t ideal either.

Surely the point of negotiating is go in low to being with.

We clearly know Woolfenden wants to leave (Ipswich ITKs said this a few weeks ago) and that we were interested in Jan. I don’t think a single negotiation goes:
- first offer comes in
- player is sold

Reading their form again, many can see why he would want to leave given he is clearly not a first choice. Also they seem to think that they are in negotiations with Bøving

Recruiting to replace a reserve centre back isn't as easy as some think.

Either we gotta pay big to get someone who's going to replace Thomas, Kitching or you get someone who may feel underwhelming but is happy to sit on the bench and do a job when needed

So do some people on here. That's the beauty of the transfer rumours, they suck in all manner of fans to click on your page and increase the ad revenue.

So this dispels the rumour that we had anyone lined up when we sold Binks

Looks like we're throwing a tonne of bids around hoping something will stick...

Disgrace really
Woolfenden would start, Binks was a squad player.

Franks wants 2 more centre half’s.

I suspect one is a proven championship player, their other a younger player with potential.

Where you getting 2 cb's from? We're not going to go with 5 in the squad

Turning down bids for their benched centre back and rivaling us for both of our other rumoured targets. Dangerously close to joining the shit list.
